Might there be cliff racers in Dragonborn?

Post » Thu Nov 15, 2012 10:29 pm

As far as I remember, St. Jiub killed all of them.

Could have been a lore mess up by bethesda, it happens sometimes (*cough* most of oblivion *cough*)
So what did Mjoll hunt as a child, then?

St. Jiub did wipe out the cliffracers, in Vvardenfell. The rest of Morrowind had a cliff racer problem.

Oh god no. Just no. People think dragons are annoying? Cliffracers are 100 times worse. lol

Spoiler

If we get Cliffracers, I'll be hauling St. Jiub's ass out of Soul Cairn and setting him to genocide.

That's why we'll be riding dragons! So they can stab you in the face at 14,000 ft!

Cliffracers are annoying

That said there are scenic cliffracers that just fly near the mountain tops to add more atmosphere.

Cliff racers were mostly annoying in Morrowind. They would seemingly attack you all the time, and they had a very wide range of sight, meaning they would see you from far away and swoop in to attack you. Then often they wouldn't get into melee range and would just hover over your head while you swing at the air. Then there's times where you'd be swarmed by a flock of 4 or 5 of them and you had to wait for them all to get into range, kill them, wait for the next one, etc. It was just an annoyance.

That said, I didn't mind them all that much, but i know most people hated them.
I also had no problem with them except at very low level, an bow or an amulet with fire damage just enough to kill one solved the problem.
However if you had no ranged weapon they would be pretty annoying.

Remember the Morrowind advanced mod who added cliffracers with ranged spell attacks :)

I never played Morrowind so I don't get it. What was so bad about the cliff racers?
Imagine every three seconds a diseased bird flying down just out of striking range with a sword and stabbing you in the head with its tail and giving you a disease. That my friend is a Cliff Racer.

You forgot about the most horrible part, that incessant squawking.

I've looked at that mod, but if there's no challenge, i.e. no actual combat I don't see the point. I want new and improved terrifying (or terrifyingly annoying) cliff racers

They also were disease carriers.
Never got corpus from one though.

They were frustrating as one needed spell or bow to kill most of them, or melee while a fly spell was running.

Ugh...I hope not. They were an obnoxious bane. As soon as one homed in on you, you could guarantee four more were on their way. As soon as you heard that squack, you may as well just stop and wait for them to get to where you can hit them.
They were like annoyingly placed stop signs on the way to wherever it is you were going.

You know, you'd think Sheogorath would let the Cliff Racers into the Shivering Isles. You know, on account of how maddening they are! :P

Perhaps the OP simply meant that he'd like the drink to be available... no reason for such a fine beverage to be exclusive to the Bee and Barb... although I imagine given the associations it would be a hard sell in Morrowind.

That's usually how I knew I was ready to rock when I could shoot them out of the air with one shot, or spell or what ever. Sometimes I would load up a ring to shoot fire balls and just unload on them. Now we've got chain lightning and you still don't want the swarm? Oh and Space marine - cool pic

I don't really mind them in Morrowind except for when they ambush you out of nowhere. Greater Bonewalkers are much more annoying. (if you played it, you know why)
Cliff Racers just have very insane squawking, which they never stop doing!

I doubt they will return in Dragonborn, except for the mounted one in Thirsk maybe. Or some sort of easter egg.

As far as I remember, St. Jiub killed all of them.

And Daniel Boone killed a grizzly bear with a pen knife.

Why does everyone take the claims of NPCs as actual gospel rather than just claims? Jiub couldn't have ... you know ... exaggerated?

Books and NPC dialogue in game are treated as gospel even though books and people in our own world are often wrong. Then, when what the the player actually experiences in the game contradicts the words (written or spoken) of some NPC many players jump to the conclusion not that the NPC was either mistaken or lying, but that the game designers are contradicting their own lore.

Its said that the cliffracers are the main reason all the dragons disappeared. If i were a dragon and had to fly alongside those sqeeking balls of meat, i would kill my self to.

seriously skeevers are higher up the list of my favourite animals.
