Really? :woot: Now that is an interesting encounter. I want to see that. What caches was he supposed to fill? They must be different than Soliah's caches. I don't go to the Reach much, or Falkreath. Maybe he is down there.

According to the " orders " he had, he was supposed to visit a cash just south of the Whiterun western watch tower, behind the inn at Rorikstead, and around a shrine to Stendar in the middle of the tundra. So far I've only found the one by Rorikstead, their pretty hard to spot

Let me guess: the dungeon was Mara's Eye?

It wasn't Saliah in my game it was the milk drinker you meet the very first time visiting the Dawnguard fort, his name has slipped my mind. Anyway, I bumped into 2 master vampires who didn't turn on me the second they saw me, instead they where chasing someone else ( that whimp you meet at the start of the DG side ). I killed both vampires and that guy walked over to me and said that he couldn't handle this war with the vampires. He threw off his DG armor, dropped a key and a note with a necklace of Stendar, the note was directions to each DG stash and orders to fill each.

That's not the same "milk-drinker" you meet at Dayspring Canyon. You're thinking of Agmaer, and that's not him. The fellow you ran into is Hakar, and he only turns up for that random encounter you experienced.

Really ? It looked like Agmaer ( just looked him up ) anyway it was a pretty nice random encounter, out of no where I save his ass and then he chickens out * whimp * I have found one stash but still haven't found the other 2, what really makes it hard is that your not looking for a chest, nooOOOOoo, your looking for a little lock box ( rather small chest ) :wallbash: But it's fun racking your brain trying to find it  but the pay out isn't worth jack, even at level 81 the stash is a let down.

Yeah, they look similar and share the same voice actor I think. In any case, http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Dawnguard_Novice_Hakar the guy you ran into.

I was on the main road on the way to Whiterun from Solitude, just a random encounter. To make sure it was a random encounter I saved then reloaded from my earlier save just before it happened and it never happened on the second try. It was just about 6pm when I encountered this, just before dusk, just off the road. http://i1264.photobucket.com/albums/jj500/Justin_Peddle/wierdencounter.png

 No prob. I cannot guarantee that you will have the same encounter at the same place I did, sometimes there's gargoyles, werewolves, a group of vampires at that same spot.

Aside from generic Vampires the only new encounter I've had is Babette feeding on a corpse.

Hang in there, it was about 60 hours before I had my first werewolf encounter, 40ish hours before a wild gargoyle encounter. I have yet to see Babette hunting the roads yet though. :swear:

i just encountered this one just about 5 minutes ago...
i was traveling in the rift and a group of what looked like vigilants of stendaar from a distance called me over..as i got closer i realized they were all vampires and they attacked me...afterwards i examined the scene and there was a stripped vigilant of stendaar near where they were standing...

Yep.
Now as you travel you need to look closely at the Vigil as you pass by or watch for bodies on the ground when you approach. It's a nice addition IMO, just like the vampire attacks, mysterious traveler etc...etc...

I don't think it's tied to your level, just your luck. It's a rare encounter that happens randomly.
