Mildly interesting new random encounter

Post » Tue Nov 20, 2012 12:55 pm

Just ran into a dawngaurd (Soliah) traveling on the road. Her line was "Sorry, but I am urgent business for the Dawnguard. Stand aside." What made it mildly interesting is that she was galloping along on horseback. Rarely have I seen npc's using horses, and then always walking. The only ones I have seen are the nobleman and his guard (guard on foot) and an occasional hunter. I wish my followers could use a horse. That would be nice.

I find it rather bizarre that she did not acknowledge me as a fellow Dawnguard. I am also annoyed by the imperial prisoner transport groups that don't recognize me as a Legate of the Legion. Whenever they tell me to "move along citizen" I feel like bringing them up on charges of insubordination.

Edit: whoops, forgot about Mr. Headless.

I picked the first option in my dialogue with him and so he attacked me and I killed him. Do you know what would have happened if I had picked a different option?

I actually reloaded a save. You can tell him that the woman's ghost you helped to R.I.P. told you about him. He was like,"No, that's not possible" or something and then say you know too much and try to kill you. I killed him for just being a [censored] the first time, but once I was reminded of who he was, I wanted to avenge that poor woman. Killing him a second time felt so much more satisfying.

Fights pretty well that one, my Vampire Lord Braggen killed her the other day, she was setting up caches of equipment for Dawnguard members in some of the holds. Nothing of any interest to Braggen, but he has yet to find the one under the arch outside of Winterhold. Being a sticky nose after everything he likes to know where these things are, he might hopefully even stake one out and see what happens. Now if it had been a cache of nice new rare Dawnguard equipment Braggen would have been very interested. Strange she does not tell her own people where these things are, could it be the Vampires know more about what the Dawnguard are up to than most Dawnguard?

Hmmm. Looks like Isran has been holding out on me. Maybe he doesn't trust me because he found out that Serana and I are having an affair. I'll have to go check the caches out.

Braggen did eventually find the Winterhold stash, he was looking under the wrong great arch. It is the opposite direction to the college.

No caches for me. I guess that is just a vamp side thing.

Soon as Braggen finishes his bit of exploring I will put Aussie on the job. It is possible you only get the caches if you see the orders.

Edit
They were not there for Aussie and she could not find Saliah either, Braggen found her near the Nightgate Inn

Kill Saliah, if you are a vampire. Aussie is on the Dawnguard side and has not seen her yet, she does not need extra loot either, but likes collecting bits of paper. So will be investigating how to get a look at those orders, she has only started though so might take a few days. She will probably go vampire hunting in walled cities for a bit, see what all this moaning is about. So far all she got was one master vampire in Windhelm that hardly survived 2 seconds everyone jumped on him so fast. So she is expecting to have some bloody mayhem later today, after the Dawnguard get built up a bit more. First the quests, then the fun dropping the loot off and re-stocking a few NPC's. :)

Braggen killed some Werewolf Vargr's yesterday near Morthal, never seen them wandering around like that before.

No idea if those Dawnguard caches respawn, but I would expect they would. I have swapped characters again so it might take a while for Braggen to get loose and continue those never ending boring radiant quests.

Just to update the info here: The caches do show up once you read the orders. (I am playing DG side.) I just saw Saliah riding by when a dragon appeared, so I stood around her waiting for the dragon to kill her. Once she was dead I took her key and the orders. Sure enough, the caches showed up. Didn't realize they were just these tiny lockboxes.

She carries a key and locations of three strong boxes used by Dawnguard agents. It is her job to refill them.

It wasn't Saliah in my game it was the milk drinker you meet the very first time visiting the Dawnguard fort, his name has slipped my mind. Anyway, I bumped into 2 master vampires who didn't turn on me the second they saw me, instead they where chasing someone else ( that whimp you meet at the start of the DG side ). I killed both vampires and that guy walked over to me and said that he couldn't handle this war with the vampires. He threw off his DG armor, dropped a key and a note with a necklace of Stendar, the note was directions to each DG stash and orders to fill each.

I wish they made more random encounters with vampires like you can see one like babbette hunting. As a aside completely off topic who wished, that in DG vampires could run extremely fast, and jump higher. This would have made "hunting" people to feed much funnier, instead of slowly walking up to them and using vampire seduction.

Really? :woot: Now that is an interesting encounter. I want to see that. What caches was he supposed to fill? They must be different than Soliah's caches. I don't go to the Reach much, or Falkreath. Maybe he is down there.
