20 min ingame and I'm quitting

Post » Fri Dec 13, 2013 1:41 am

Some of you know this, I've been looking for a new mmo to play while I wait for TESO to launch..

So after a weekend of working at my sisters Place, I bought FFXIV today..

I just installed the game, made my character, and into the World I Went.

After 20 min, I'm leaving the game.. why you ask?

Well, it dont mather how nice you make the game, if there aint any pvp, I'm out!

And thats all it took, 20 min of talking to the Community and I knew what kinda game it was..

Now, TESO is not gonna be like that, and thats a good thing, but what am I to play for the next coming 5 months?

GW2, had that game and gave my account away.. I could pick it up again, but I'm not so sure about it..

Is the mmo market dead?

what do you guys play while you wait for TESO?

Should have done more research on it before you bought it, imho.

Played closed and open beta for FFXIV and the first month of launch. Its an okay MMO, but Square-Enix is a terrible company and I choose to no longer support them.

All of that aside, PvP is supposed to come out in the first major patch (should have hit by now, really surprised it didn't). It will svck anyway, though, because that game company doesn't care about PvP, they're strictly PvE.

Guild Wars 2.

Its really the only game with PvP that will satisfy me until ESO comes out.

Also wanting to try Neverwinter though. Its free so I don't have to make a financial commitment. Combat is similar to ESO and I've hear that PvP is fun.

Neverwinter PvP is fun until some dude who spent a few hundred bucks shows up and does like 5x your damage and is immortal, then you remember that F2P games svck for balance.

The MMORPG Market won't die, because it's cheap entertainment.

I don't know why anybody would bother with FFXIV considering how atrocious it was at launch, even if Square has since relaunched it. I mean, they had to apologize for it because of how bad it was, and companies almost never do that.

Ya that does svck.

Gear is pretty important in GW2 as well but I don't think very many people buy top end gear in that game. In real world money, Ascended Gear would cost you a couple hundred bucks at least. And there's often not much of it even being sold.

You're best bet to get the best gear is to run high end PvE, which is the way it should be.

Personally, I'm too lazy for that and I simply don't enjoy PvE enough in that game (though I might change my mind to get that stuff.) I saved up a lot of gold leveling and just purchased some mid-high end gear (Draconic, the highest players can craft.)

In 1v1s vs a fully decked out Ascended player, I can't really win. But against people with gear like mine or worse I'm good. In large scale battles, I'm good. I try to avoid getting hit and just blast with my bow from afar.

GW2's P2W doesn't go nearly as deep as Neverwinter's.

I suppose that's because Neverwinter doesn't have the box price.

Its a shame. I still kinda want to try Neverwinter. But it sounds like a good game that got totally ruined by micro-transactions.

GW2 really does seem to be the only game that has done subscription-free right.

Do you play GW2 at all Carde?

That's funny because they're some of the most expensive games to make, but I see what you're trying to say.

You should have read a few more reviews of the title, it isn't hard to find people who will tell you about it's incredibly slow introduction into the game.

Having played WoW for a certain number of years, I can say that if the MMO genre were to die (it won't), it's certainly won't be something I'll lament over. The pure static environment that an always online world enforces can make for some of the worst world interaction in computer games, especially when developers like Blizzard get stuck in a routine of producing new raids, continents, the odd arena and battleground and tweaking talent trees because they're found the formula for infinite money, it's no wonder why creately their titles suffer.

Consider EVE online if you like PvP and don't mind a space sandbox :)

I guess you missed the recent steam sale.

I usually buy a few games i am interested in, but not interested in enough to buy at full price.

It helps when you exhausted your current games.

You're a bit of a fool, considering PVP is coming out in patch 2.1, which lands in less than a week.
