Is Miraak one of TES'S best viliians?

Post » Mon Feb 04, 2013 2:43 am

Badass, extremely charismatic, sounds awesome, has a cool sword, Miraak has it all.
Anyone else find that Miraak was leagues above Alduin and Harkon he, was just plain awesome.
I love how people found that "Miraak" and his temple were bad dreams, which was obviously taken from H.P Lovecraft.
Overall I found Miraak to be a very good villian, not as good as Dagoth Ur, but better then alot of the rest, anyone else agree?

I liked how cool and casual he was.

All the people speaking past tense about this DLC already is slightly worrying :P How many hours did it take you to get there?

in the beginning yes, he was great, had a charismatic presence and all. like someone else said, he was alot like darth vader

but towards the end you realise that he is just another daedra pawn who is just desperate to escape HM

HM was great. Miraak became overshadowed very quickly by HM.

I don't think so. I enjoyed Miraak more because, unlike Herma-Mora, he doesn't have an annoying ass voice. The way Herma-Mora looked was awesome though. I admit that.

agree. somehow i think HM is the main villian of the DLC, but since you can't physically fight him, you ended up fighting miraak instead

Old Herma Mora's voice is flawless. It fits him so much better than some generically evil deep voice would've.
Also, I did like Miraak, even if he's a soul stealing jerk.

It's a stretch...For what i've seen in the videos HM is awesome and all, but surely it's nothing compared to the ending that Mi-Go call Yog-Sothoth.

Have you seen what his realm looks like, vast eldritch lakes of giant tentacles, pages of forbidden knowledge, monstrosities, it OOZES lovecraft.

He was rather casual, but he wasn't a good villain. I mean right when you meet him for the first time he tells the Seekers to return you back into the normal world. He could have just killed you, he did what every bad villain does; letting the hero go. Granted he did need you to become alive again, but why didn't he just do that when he captured you? Or if he needed a special power to do so, why didn't he at least held you captive? Releasing you was a poor decision because you had the chance to find a way to defeat him.
He was a poor villian, he didn't challenged you both mentally and physically so there was very little of a struggle against him.

HM wasn't a villain, but he just played the role of a cool Daedric Prince with a unique world. He was sorta the Sheogorath of this DLC, he's just there to be cool and to make the DLC more stunning/entertaining.

He did actually, stealing those souls, mocking you constantly.

Good, yeah, good, as in acceptable. I think the mystery of who he is, frankly, is a lot more interesting than the man (thing?) himself. But one of the best? No. Not by a long shot. We don't get enough of him for that to be the case. Taste here, taste there, soul steal, soul steal, soul steal, oh, there you are you f'r, last taste, dead.

He was better then that flying pice of crap and that laughing maniac (Harkon)
And that crazed high elf...

As I said, we really don't get enough of him to make that determination. He has, what? Two mini-speeches, almost no lore support, and those dragon soul cameos, that's it. So no, not fleshed out enough to be "one of the best". I'd put both Alduin and Harkon above him. Although, as I said, who he is, the mystery of his history, is a lot more interesting than the man himself. His missing background may make who he is and where he comes from more interesting then both Harkon and Alduin, but both are better villains. As are Delphine and Esbern, more anti-heroes, though, I guess, and Ulfric/Tullius. And, of course, "that Thalmor [censored]", Elenwen.

But we have character traits that make him so likable compared to Harkon and Alduin. He praises you, he almost always talks civil, he actually spares you the first time we meet. He is the very definition of affably evil.

Did you notice how some of the statues in Apocrypha resemble the statue from Call of Cthulhu?
