You know, that didn't make any sense to me, but none of this makes sense, so I backed up my controlmap and everything, and redownloaded from Steam overnight.
Didn't make a bit of difference of course, came back to it this morning, reinstalled the glowing ore mod, and nothing changed.
I did add in another texture/mesh mod, the maus helmet (silly mod but it has meshes), and it worked. So.
Obviously I'm cursed. Only think I can think of. Or my computer is possessed by a mischievous gremlin.
