Modesty mod

ok wow, biblethumping zealot here from the dirty south and i got to say........SERIOUSLY people? Why are u questioning a person who wants to TONE down the game a lil? Its his prefrence thats all there is to it, and i was very surprised at the "pastor' who goes in and wants to find out WHY this person wants a lil thing like cleavage removed from the game.............. :banghead:  You should know that A. none of ur business, B why should he have to explain private issues with toal stranger on internet because that person "pastor" got offended, cmon u have people confess stuff to u in a box where no one can hear or see that person and its supposed to be between the pastor and GOD, C. ur offended over someone wanting to tone down the game a lil......... And also to the people who are questioning this person because he wants to get rid of some "boobies" showing but nothing against the violence and such......people are each different and different cultures. America we love violence but to the masses in public "sixuality" is a dirty topic hence why we censor a tit on tv but nothing on death and such, but other cultures view things differently. Look at the european games released and australia's, those places have no problem whatsoever with sixuality and are quite open sixuality where we keep it on a need to know bases, BUT violence and what not are toned downed to some points very silly doned.

Case in point, MODS are about preference about taste, and this is the forum to do it on. Wont eb a mod ill use, and i expected the trolls to pop up on this one BUT noone needs to knwo the reason why we want something done for a mod, no one needs to WHY our personal taste is a certain way, because its a personal taste.

Yeah, and in America, nudity is conflated with sixuality, and sixuality is conflated with women displaying their bodies for male viewers. It's a lot rarer to see exposed male genitalia in a non-advlt movie than it is a bare female briast, but somehow that argument gets lost amid the endless repetition of six = naked wimmins. :P Your argument isn't without merit, but I think it's more colored by your culture than maybe you realize.

I wonder what the United States would be like if male briasts were as sacred as females. :P

Also--in case anyone is interested--here's another "modesty" mod I came across over at Skyrim Nexus for plate armor.

Now that's a mod I like. It adjusts the armor instead of flat out removing content.

But can we call it something other than modesty? We're trying to give women respectable armor, not make them behave :sadvaultboy:

How about something like Real Armor for Real Women. Subtitled "Armor that actually protects the wearer"

You know what's funny? I do have that in an Oblivion mod I've been working on and off for a couple years :)

Yeah, that's why I put the word in quotations. ;( Realism is a better fit.

Are there mods for the opposite? I want to RP as a naughty thief. The less I wear the sneakier I get.

I wasn't questioning him at all, I was pointing out that he knew full well that the game had content that was going to be objectionable to him.
He seems to be OK, with the Decapitations, Blood and Gore and Violence, but a little bit of Cleavage is bothering him.
That's all I'm wondering.

Kind of makes you think about the infamous Hot Coffee mod for GTA, the sixBox bull for Mass Effect and all that stuff, doesn't it...?

I would think something like "Unisix Armour", but that's as much for me being bugged by armour (and clothing) suddenly becoming something different when picked up by someone of the opposite gender of the original wearer as me being bugged by the occasional silliness that shows up in the game's female armour designs (both bug me, of course, just to slightly different extents <_< ).

My husband and I joke that it's "you can't touch me" armor. Which is to say, on the very rare occasions when I have a female character who likes that sort of armor, she's wearing it to deliberately taunt her enemies. They should understand that yes, if they could hit her with their axe, that'd be the end of her... except that she's standing there wearing armor that does nothing whatsoever to protect her, and yet, she's very much alive.

That said, while I'm perfectly happy with unrealistic armor, I'd love to see more realistic armors for women as well, if only for variety and roleplaying. Of course, I'd like to see more realistic armor for men, as well; a lot of the armor I've seen does NOT look like it was made for the frozen north, and some that just look plain stupid. But I hope more people will consider adding armors, particularly when the CK comes out, rather than just replacing what's already there. It's easier to turn a mod that adds armor into a replacer, AFAIK, than it is to pull a replacer apart to make a new set of armor.

Kelticpete has a very good point about desire for such "modesty" being a symptom of the oversixualization of women (and men) on a societal level. What occurs is a polarization where the moral crusaders want six and nudity hidden while many other people want to crank it up everywhere.. However, he does understand that all he can do with his concern here is ask about the OP's motivations and maybe not get an answer. If any of us influence culture with regards to sixuality it's probably going to be in our close circles rather than on a game forum..

Personally, I'm with the guys who want realistic options. I want my female character to be able to wear male clothes in cases where they would actually fit. Bikini armour has always struck me as silly nonsense without some sort of cultural/lore justification in place. It's of course also nonsense that the children have identical clothes and nobody ever changes their clothes. If people want their modesty mods or their six mods they can have them, though. Just don't prohibit me or anyone else from having what we want.

...People didn't change their clothes much in history. Everything was spun, woven, and stitched by hand by someone, and most people were completely broke.

Now that's a mod I like. It adjusts the armor instead of flat out removing content.

I agree adjusting the armor will be best. People are flat-out removing content right now because it is the fastest, easiest thing to do and apparently there are still issues with opening/rigging Skyrim meshes. Even the mod you're talking about -- which does look great, btw -- has clipping/alignment issue where it meets the rest of the body.

I am not sure why you associate "modesty" with making women behave. Especially when the issue is men making virtual women show their briasts in completely bizarre situations for it. That is, I get uncomfortable when a game insists women should be immodest, because we're only there to titillate men. "Modesty" is the opposite of the sixist problem Skyrim has, and it has always been a very feminist concept to me. But I would be very surprised if every mod for this sort of thing ended up with "modesty" in the title, or any other one word.

I'd trade my dragon-soul-absorbing powers for the ability to wear some pants.
Some of the Fine Clothes I found at Radiant Raiment have pants under a long open coat, though they are not quite what you described.
