Jewelry is still probably viable as well. That's how I always leveled my Smithing anyway, since I didn't like breaking my character by having 100 smithing before leaving Riverwood.

Nope, but dwarven ingots are after looting a dwemer ruin or two -- assuming you don't mind smelting. And due to the connection to value, you might consider making bows instead of daggers.

I must be going into the wrong dwemer ruins because they are surprisingly devoid of anything interesting other than angry falmer and automatons.

And assuming you're going up the heavy armor side of the tree.

can you use the tableware? because that's the only dwemer metal i know of that isn't actively trying to fry anything that moves.

The stuff you want to look for is either just lying around as scrap or sometimes in enemy loot (spiders, spheres, etc.), particularly these three items: Bent Dwemer Scrap Metal, Large Dwemer Plate Metal, and Small Dwemer Plate Metal. Each of these only weighs two lbs. but will produce three dwarven ingots (thus the best weight/value ratio). In any given dwemer ruin, you may very well find more of these than you can either reasonably, or at least care to, lug out.

If you pull up the smelting menu in game for dwarven ingots, it will list the items that can be smelted.

I find it annoying that I can craft a disproportionate amount of Items with resources, needs to be fixed imo anyone else come across this?

The new smithing forces you to quest for your metals if you want to do it at a reasonable pace.

I made alot of banded armor (had to go corundum questing), dwarven weapons (had to raid dwemer ruins) and Orc Armor (raided an orc bandit mine) in order to get up to ebony.

It actually seems easier to raise it at later levels when you can turn a higher profit on crafting items by buying ingots and turning them into high priced pieces.

There is an entire mine enclosed within the Orc Stronghold South of Windhelm. The mine is 90% ebony, with 4-5 iron ore veins spread throughout

FINALLY!! YES! FINALLY!

You know what? I'm personally glad they fixed this dumb exploit.

Everyone that has ever used this exploit would come onto the forums like 3 days later, and say the game is boring...
...First of all, the GAME isn't boring, you're just MAKING it boring. It's never fun to hear someone complain when they're to blame.

So yeah. I'm VERY glad that these 'kids' no longer have the chance to complain. Thank you, Bethesda.

This. Took me a LONG time to figure that out but once I did making Dwarven was a cake walk.
