I heard that those issues only exist on the pirated version of the game, hehe. So you can tell anyone complaining about the mouse in the menu to just go buy the game, like the rest of us!

Ridiculous

I was really worried it was bad and almost bought a 50 dollar controller before I got home yesterday. I was surprised at how exaggerated they were about the UI. Mouse works fine in the interface and opening and closing things was not hard at all. I'm fine with "r" to take all and "tab" to exit, not just fine but I like it. My mouse doesn't have acceleration problems but my brother's does though he has poor system specs.

I despise the process of hotkeying but it's passable and doesn't ruin the game. Just one more step to hotkey.

Dual wielding spells is 1 extra step to get the right spells, o well.

Graphics aren't all that.

Sure I would have preferred to be able to link my spells/actions to numbers but it is what it is so instead of jumping on the forums to complain I just played the game.

The UI took around 10 minutes to get used to and as the OP said my mouse works fine in the menus as do the hotkeys for opening chests etc,Once you get your favourites sorted out on the quick menu it is really easy.

Complaints so far?......erm I will get back to on that ;)

Um, you can =P

Favourite the skill/item then press the number you'll use while highlighiting it in the Q menu.

I found left click to attack with right weapon and right click for left weapon a bit awkward and I'd find myself assigning things to the wrong hands and getting mixed up left and right.

Overall, I don't mind the interface I feel it can be clunky but the simplification of the system means I don't use the interface half as much as I used it in oblivion.

Basically I don't have some "OMG WORST UI EVER" opinion I keep hearing on the forum, but I'd agree with anyone who said it could of been more PC optimized for many things and this will be done with UI mods in the future.

Yes you and the random "rabid fan boys"...

Everyone else on the PC is insulted that Bethesda had the balls to release that [censored] "Console Port" to the public.

It's 2011 and this is what you're happy selling as a working PC interface?

Give me a [censored] break...
Sorry, but anyone with the brains of a tree stump that pays the slightest bit of attention to bethesda expects a console port to PC with their games.

They make some awesome games (except brink) but they openly state without lying they prioritize them for console on release.

If your expectations go again everything they say and history and common sense agree on then maybe you are being unreasonable.

I LOVE PC optimized controls. I dislike when a develop lies about how the PC version will be and gives us a BAD port. Poorly optimized, locked FPS and poor control, with no warning from the devs happen often (from dust). Bethesda states console is the goal. They aren't hiding it and I am fine with this. We still get the modder community.

All I ask for is honesty and I feel I got that in this release. None of my expectations were unreasonable, and almost of my expectations were met. I think skyrim is great.

It's not that I don't have a problem with the interface, it's just that the problems are something I can get over with. Just like you, everything works as it should and I've seen worse interfaces in my days.

Most players probably don't have much a problem with it. Instead of complaining on the forums they are having fun playing.

I seriously don't have any issues with it. Granted, it's pretty "simple" and "boring", but it works and nothing technical jumps out at me.

1. Mouse works fine throughout the ENTIRE interface.
2. I can open and close chests using "E".
3. I can use the tab key fine and don't have to "push buttons all over my keyboard franticly" as one user put it.
4. The graphics are great.
5. The gameplay is great.
6. I play on High settings and no framerate issues. (I have an older pc)
7. I also didnt have problems installing the game, nor downloading it from Steam. Was done in 20 minutes total time.

I guess I must have received a golden copy of Skyrim.

I don't have a problem with the interface at all.

It doesn't irritate me as much now as when I first tried the game, but I still don't like it. Oblivion's UI was a lot better in my opinion.

Yeah.

I can use it (my mouse works & everything), but there's just something slightly "off" about how some of the functions work. Hotkeys don't really work well with the two-hand system, for example (can't always control which hand something goes into). And the map doesn't control nicely - it's awkward.

So, yep.... the interface is usable. But it could be better.

(then there's nitpicky things, like.... I'm used to "A" for Take All from FO3 & NV. And E for exit. So "R" for Take All, and "E" for take.... I find myself taking things I don't want because I try to xit the container. And R doesn't feel quite natural yet. I find myself hitting A alot. Which moves me left in the item interface. Whee!)

I'm satisfied with most of the stuff in the game, and I don't have any controlling problems or big graphical issues (blue textures twice but was quickly fixed).
Also, the interface and menus are a lot better than I thought. I disliked them after seeing the demos and gameplay videos, but after playing myself I don't find them bad at all. The perk tree system is a bit annoying at times though.

If only the game wouldn't crash every 30-60 mins.

yeah, interface seems fine to me too, way easier to navigate than oblivion's was. Only issue i have had is the button to switch between third and first person view doesn't always work, not a big issue.

It's simple, OP. You have lower standards. I only wonder how low they'd go.

There. Problem between chair and keyboard as everyone keeps saying.

P.S. Were you get on Bethesda's Christmas card list by posting this?

I have this feeling that your copy is the same as everyone elses, which means something else must be wrong with all those games out there, maybe its something between the chair and monitor.

You're not the only one, i think it's fine. The only thing i really miss from oblivion's UI is the ability to check out my character's looks as I'm equipping him.

This

I seiously find nothing wrong with any of it. It was I admit a tad different at first, but I got used to it. I don't get why people say it's dumbed down? Plays like every sword toating RPG I own on my laptop. I play on ultra smoothly, no popping, or weird glitches. The mouse works fine on everything, and navigating the menu is perfect. I heard someone couldn't learn how to inspect objects with the mouse in the menu :P

I'm starting to think that just 90% of the forum community suffers down syndrome.

I love the game. But I'm having trouble with the PC interface, like many others;

Maybe it takes some re-mapping and getting used to. Anyway, would be grateful if somebodyy would help me with these things:

1. How can I have the same key (I usually use "Enter") for opening and closing containers (the OP says he has done just that) ?

2. You can move things from a chest to inventory with left-mouse. However, if you do it the other way round and try moving potions or food from inventory to a container, this results in eating or drinking these items! How can I use leftclick to move items to a conatainer (like in fallout or oblivion)

3. How can I re-map the keys from the submenu's (from within the inventory menu)? Like the keys you need to use to drop stuff, to add a weapon to favourites, ...) ?

You can...you have to move the camera so that you are looking at the characters face zoom out and then equip stuff. Ta Da! You can see your full body.

The game works perfectly fine for me too and after hours of playing I've only had 1 CTD. The interface works even better for me because I like it just the way it is even though theirs the bug where you click on an item in your inventory and it exits the menu sometimes. Theirs also the bug where if you make specific keybinds the interface goes weird in the inventory menu with the favirates.

Can't you remap the keys if you don't like the defaults?

What about mapping on a gaming keyboard like the Logitech G15?
