Necromancer Amulet: do you use it?

Post » Tue Jun 05, 2012 5:17 pm

I'm sorry, OP, but I don't wear crap around my neck.
Chicks don't dig that stuff.

On a more serious note, I personally think it's horrible item.
Not only bonuses are not worth it (I can enchant a much better item without any problem), but they are simply boring and have NOTHING to do with necromancy.
It should be renamed into a 'Poor Excuse For Conjurer's Amulet'.
Lot of their unique items and artifacts have crappy effects, and I really don't understand why they didn't get a little bit more creative with them (Ebony Blade is a proof that they can do it if they want - too bad it's bugged as a hive though).
I think that it would be much better if Necromancer's Amulet effects were:
  • Able to conjure only undead units (so no more Deadra and stuff, you're a necromancer now).
  • Can have an additional raised zombie (stacks with twin souls, so you can have a total of 3 reanimated zombies at a time).
  • Zombies have +25% damage bonus.
Now that would make a much better artifact imo.
Also, I think that Necromancy perk shouldn't increase duration of raised zombies, but should prevent defeated ones from disintegrating.

It makes a nice "pretty" for my theif's bedside table. She only uses restoration magic. But it is pretty cool to look at.

No I don't. Drawbacks are too big for me.

You need to sell it to Calixto during the quest - otherwise it bugs out and stays in its "strange form" permanently.

Now Im mad!! Poor Uunferth is in jail for the crime and Calixto is still just sitting there in his shop all happy as can be. Im going to kill Calixto today!! Wonder why it let me complete the B.O.I. quest?

I use a custom amulet that gives me some 64 magicka.

Eventually, that is the best way to go. You can enchant things that fit your character better than anything that exists in the game. BUT (notice big but), until you can get to that level of enchanting, the pre-made stuff in the game is sitll better than what you had before, which was nothing.

The Necromancer's Amulet in Skyrim is horrible compared to its previous appearances in Morrowind and Oblivion. It's currently rotting in some chest in my house.

I'm not a mage, so I keep it in Hjerim on a dresser along with some copies of Beware of the Butcher, both the fake and real Butcher Journals, and the very iron dagger Calixto was going to use to murder that girl in the market. I took it from him for the collection. Makes a nice little reminder for that mission (which incidentally gave me no problems or glitches during its entirety).
