We need a NPC that can Unenchant Armor!

Post » Sun Sep 16, 2012 11:38 am

from what i hear, there is a dragon in daggerfall? well before the return of the dragons, and also the leader of the greybeards.... his statement about other dragons may follow his path, or something to that effect.
I don't know. One, I never played any TES besides this one so lore isn't my specialty. Two, I'm not sure about that one either.
I guess as the leader he can make the dragons less hostile or something but I'm not too sure they'd be happy about teaching the creatures they want to munch on...

yep this also the robes that are unique are already enchanted like mystic dawn robes, thalmor robes, DB robes, archmages robes (although the enchantment is nice) also there are no unenchanted hooded blue or black robes I want to wear these but I really need the enchantments for my mage.
hooded black robes(unenchanted) are carried by a vampire labeled as 'traveler' added in the dawnguard DLC.

well, he was second in charge to alduin in the dragon wars, before he had a change of heart.
Spoiler
with alduin destroyed he would be the logical commander of the dragons

I could swear I saw hooded black robes, and then there're Heimskr's robes if you're inclined to take them. Don't know if you can get Nelacar's robes or (if you can) what kind of enchants they do or don't have on them. But, THAT, yeah, I hear you on. I'd just like some white gandalf-style robes, and wizards' hats.

I apologize for the possible spoiler.
honestly I could care less about spoilers lol anyway I already heard of the traveler ruining alot of people's games.
on a side note i kind of want to make a thread on the DG spoilers section called Spoil everything so I don't have to avoid them anymore

That svcks. You're SOL on that then...

I know but still. I'm not sure other dragons would be too keen on teaching you things that could kill them. Plus the leader would be busy keeping the dragons in line so technically he wouldn't have 'time' to teach you.

unenchanting an item and preventing the item from being destroyed would be a possible cause for their death? somehow if they are face to face with a mage brave enough to be chatty with a dragon, i assume the dragon has bigger problems. plus, it wouldn't have to be their leader, merely a benign dragon.

also in DG isn't there a character that can change your face? so this may actually be fine lorewise I mean plastic surgery doesn't seem lore-friendly either

Um, isn't there face-changing in Oblivion? I seem to remember *something* about the Grey Fox maybe? Anyway, it's 200 years after Oblivion, and she's obviously a physical surgeon, not a mage. I just wish face changing would be an "also wipe" of your bounties (at least) and possibly even reset some recognitions.

Speaking of the Traveller, does anyone know if he spawns at all for those who sided with the fanged fiends? I've only ever encountered him on when playing on the other team.

Personally would be against an NPC that can disenchant items without them being destroyed. Lets be honest, who would use the existing method if they could do it the other way? Unenchanted versions of non-unique gear that otherwise can only be found with enchantments would be nice though.

What? There are robes, hoods, clothes, gloves, hats, shoes, and boots all over Skyrim.

I'm pretty sure there only like one type of robe you can enchant (Just different colors) in the base game, so yeah that isn't much.

Add in the fact they have all the mage robes (Novice, Adept, Apprentice, Expert, Master, Arch) and they are all enchanted along with their hoods (which is what really annoys me) if I played mages in TES I would be dumbfounded at the fact that enchanting is a Mage skill yet most of the stuff you wear can't be enchanted..

EDIT: Make that two, the colored robes, and there are college robes that can be enchanted.

Well the only way that one mage learned dual enchanting was that he beat a dragon into submission so the dragon gave him one piece of knowledge. So unless we get dragons like that I don't see it.

I guess you could say it would require a soul gem or two to unenchant something...It required a soul to enchant maybe to save yourself from getting killed it requires a soul in your place...

  • Wow at all the negative responses, I cannot stand finding rare armor and not waering them just because they have this crap enchantment tied too them.
I agree, however it's pretty few unique enchanted items I'm interested in. On the other hand I use moded stuff at higher levels.
For weapons enchants are much less important than in Oblivion, no weakness effects and weapon damage is higher.

give the soul in the gem up in place of the item. although i dont see how it is possible. and we all know dragons abhor submission. maybe a dragon WOULD give up such knowledge in exchange for it's freedom/death.

Its in Twin Secrets.
I quote from UESP
"Dragons are said to be gone from the world. Yet I found one. Sheltered in the smoking ruins of http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Vvardenfell, I came upon it. My magic proved to be sufficient to defeat the beast. If that gives you cause to wonder, I will not deny that I was once a pyromancer of great skill.
Exhausted and near the end of my spells, I parlayed with the wyrm, offering it life if it would share it's [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/UESPWiki:Spelling#Quotes] secrets. Haughty to the end, it agreed to one secret for one life. I asked for it's [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/UESPWiki:Spelling#Quotes] name, but it told me it would rather die than surrender that. Instead if [http://www.uesp.net/wiki/UESPWiki:Spelling#Quotes] offered me something else. And that it how I learned how to defy the Law of Firsts"
