Neil Armstrong dies at 82

With the retirement of the Space Shuttle NASA is certainly going through a period of adjustment, but I still believe that they will recover and be on their way again soon. Don't forget that the Mars Curiosity rover landed not too long ago. While not manned, it is still something, so at least they're not sitting on their hands doing nothing because the shuttle is no longer in service.
I'm a tad disappointed. I like to imagine we'd have the interest in leaving this planet, searching for untamed planets with suitable environments for humans, progressing space technology to invite space travel. None of this would be immediate mind you, but still, it's a very fascinating future I think.

Give it 50 years, we'll have men in orbit.

One could hope. Despite my constant expectation for humanity to screw itself to ruin, I like to hope that by the time I die, I'll be dying seeing humanity make some real technologic progress. Providing space colonies or other planets would potentially relieve the whole 'population' problem. Granted this will be decades if not borderlining a century away, we were making real technological progress between 1900 and now. And while we make new convenience items and not as many useful modern tech things, I like to think we can apply our technology to push it further for the good of mankind.

Looked up at the moon while he was walking on it, and my thoughts were "Wow, I can't believe this is happening right now!"
Kids during that era wanted to know as much as they could about the non-fiction aspect of space travel. Everybody talked about it, and it was a constant theme at school.

I just saw a report that said Armstrong stopped giving autographs in 1994 because he found out they were selling for large sums of money. In his later life he really tried to stay low key and shied from publicity and the camera.

The guy was out of this world.

Well it's a shame but at least he lived a long life and he were one of the few who got to knock about on the moon. Rest in peace and all that :)

There are people who are famous for their acting skills.

Then there are people who got famous by actually doing something constructive for society at large, this was such a man.

Or, he could have been acting in the moon landing studio. Anyway, this is sad to hear, but if you ask me, they should bury him on the moon, if at all possible. Man was a legend.

At least he died at an old age and was able to see how the world has progressed.

RIP Armstrong
