Do you like the fact that the game will make some of these NPCs unkillable until the quest has been done? Is this another step towards the "no freedom and no consequence" type of we, the players, do NOT want it to be?

"Some?"

Dude try and go on a rampage sometime. It's ridiculous how many are essential. It forces you to reload your save for sure, cause otherwise you have an army of essential beings on your tail.

Currently, I'm playing a "decent" character who will only fight if provoked, and this includes dragons. Or, if the Jarl wants 'em dead, who am I to argue? That said, I consider the very existence of the Thalmor as provocation, and will goad them into telling me I shall die a heretic's death, then all bets are off. Bada bing, bada boom, we're smokin' cigarettes.

No, monsters do that for me instead.

Found woman's stuff, rerurning to her to get my pay. She is eaten by a random spider.

I failed a thieves' guild quest that way. Dragon ate my pickpocket target.

I do generally struggle to pick out people who I am okay with killing, mostly for reasons like have been previously stated - Skyrim is boring when only Essentials and guards remain

There are annoying NPCs, rude NPCs, ugly NPCs and so forth. I only kill NPCs which are to be killed according to current quest logs.

However I choose not to kill them, because they can break quests.

For example if we kill Ysolda we can't finish the A night to remember, which is getting fixed in 1.5, but probably won't fix it if we already killed her.

Focus: Do you kill named NPC without having a quest for it? If so, why?

If you killed an NPC without knowing the consequence, did you learn about your mistake afterwards? If so, did you reload a previous save? What was your reaction when finding out this cost you a trophy/achivement?
Have you killed NPCs and now having reading this, do you regret that now?

Do you like the fact that the game will make some of these NPCs unkillable until the quest has been done? Is this another step towards the "no freedom and no consequence" type of we, the players, do NOT want it to be?

I have always played this way since TES I.

Gawds I recall all the crying on the forums back in the MW days. All the threads that were titled "I killed so-n-so and now I can't do this-n-that". I got so tired to telling these people over and over again that it was their own play style and choices that caused these problems. Oh, if I only had a dollar for every thread ...

Anyway I have never been able to justify just killing a random NPC's in a TES game.

I personally like the fact that many NPC's are now non-killable. It sure reduced the number of the "I killed so-n-so..." threads.

Sorry to quote Mr. Kirkbride yet again, but :

"To kill Man is to reach Heaven, from where we came before the Doom Drum's iniquity. When we accomplish this, we can escape the mockery and long shame of the Material Prison.
To achieve this goal, we must:
1) Erase the Upstart Talos from the mythic. His presence fortifies the Wheel of the Convention, and binds our souls to this plane.
2) Remove Man not just from the world, but from the Pattern of Possibility, so that the very idea of them can be forgotten and thereby never again repeated.
3) With Talos and the Sons of Talos removed, the Dragon will become ours to unbind. The world of mortals will be over. The Dragon will uncoil his hold on the stagnancy of linear time and move as Free Serpent again, moving through the Aether without measure or burden, spilling time along the innumerable roads we once travelled. And with that we will regain the mantle of the imperishable spirit."
and
"Or the number could be more Lorkhanic nonsense; that is, convenient for Man.
"The Ysmir line is dead and so is His stranglehold on the mythic.
"A single Wheel? More like a Telescope that stretches all the way back to the Eye of the Anui-El, with Padomaics innumerable along its infinite walls.
"We're coming for you in every one of your quarters, Sons of Talos. None shall survive."

I don't kill any named character as I'm afraid they might be relevant for a quest. But I'd still like the option to kill everyone in game if I make a character that kills every/anybody. Maybe have them immune to all damage apart from my character so that nothing can go wrong.

i dont kill any npc named or otherwise until they show hostile intent towards me usually apparent from them wanting to hack my skull open the exception to this rule is thalmor outside of cities if they dont have the protection of the city guard and i see them they can count on things getting rough.

Skyrim has precious few NPCs as it is, and they all contribute to the experience, thus I do not kill them at all, unless advised in a quest.

Yeah, I kill any Stormcloak generals I come across after I wipe out their entire camp. Also killed those two racist [censored]s harassing the Dunmer woman in Windhelm during my first visit.

Edit: Should note I use a mod that strips away that moronic essential crap. Should be able to kill whoever I want, damn the consequences.

Personally? I would like to see ALL NPCs killable.

Hear, hear! There was something mildly enjoyable about finding out in other play-throughs that I killed someone who yet had a role to play. Vivec. :turtle:
