Never satisfied with your character?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 12:02 am

No matter what I'm always trying to due a perfect run. I have restarted a good 5-6 times when I first started playing and got about an hour in. It's because I can never seemed satisfied with my character. I either feel uncomfortable with the class I’ve chosen or with to hating the race I’ve chosen.

Is there anyone else you never seems satisfied with there character and always feel the urge to start over?

You need to pick a class that you enjoy being.. And put all your point's toward how your character will preform.. Your the one in charge on how it will all play out that is the beauty of this game.. I had the same issue when I played Morrowind I was a perfectionist with gaming.. But I died alot I came to truly understand how this game should be played and dieing comes a long with that ( it's impossible to due a perfect run unless your on an easy setting).. Some times even a lot, you just have to make your weaknesses stronger like finding a helm with frost resistant for your knight or warrior.. Or a neckless that gives you mage more mana ( magic to cast spells ) thing a long those lines..

You have to do Dungeons/ ruins to get these or just follow the storyline.. you'll die alot if you don't want to die that much then put the game on easy or a lower difficulty.. I personally play at the moment on Normal and games challenging with my level 8 High elf as the game starts to get easy for me I'll jack up the difficulty to give me that challenge..

I don't think that's what the OP meant. From what I gathered, he simply can't find a look and skill set hes comfortable with and keeps starting over in hopes of finding the 'perfect' fit. I do the same thing, don't have any advice to give though, I just start over until I get it right.

I have made the same character with a few adjustments at least 500 times in Oblivion, after getting the skills down I just have to make them look perfect....which shouldn't be as difficult with Skyrim's character creation.

Same here. Currently on my 4th restart. The one thing I liked in Oblivion was that I can have one character do all missions and do most of the roles well. (warrior, assassin, mage-ish, and thief) I am hoping Skyrim will end up the same where you can do well enough in all aspects.

I refuse to let restartitis effect me like it did with Oblivion & Fallout 3/NV. I never finished Oblivion because of it.

I started with an Argonian mage then made a Khajit thief/fighter when I got bored. I still am going to make a more warrior orientated character eventually, but I'm not particularly bored, just excited to see other perspectives. I guess the only thing is knowing what you want.

I've been playing the same guy since the game came out, I play defensive Nord. One hander/shield and heavy armor for the win.

The character model at the start is too far away for me too see all the details properly... I can't even determine the color of my characters eyes properly. Over all though, I like how my character looks from a distance. xD

After you escape the dragon attack and survive your execution. Not once do I remember a notice pop up saying something like, "Do you want to make any changes to your character before leaving?" They did in Oblivion and Fallout 3 an New Vegas. If I chose to be an archer in the beginning and didn’t like it I could change up when that message came up. Sadly I have not seen such a thing.

Thank god Im on the PC.

I'm about 90% happy with the look of my current (and first) character. I'm one-weekend of explora-faffing and Level 8 in, so not too keen to restart to "make his hair more blond" or "not make him quite so 'heavy'" just yet. I'm happy enough with it. May have made one or two perk choices that could have been better, but in the grand scheme, I'd have chosen them anyway just maybe a bit later.

But yes, I often do get struck down with chronic restartitis. Kinda wish there was console commands for 360 to at least change names/appearances etc.

Does anyone know actually if you can plug in a USB keyboard to the 360 and it works? Hahaha I bet not, just curious.

Oh come on 5pm, let me go home and play more!!!!

Made my first character and stuck with him. He's a Dunmer mercenary, currenting wielding two-handed axes and bows. He's an all out offense character who, at times, has had his ass handed to him for that reason. Recently found an Orcish Battleaxe off of some hired thugs, enchanted it with fire, and it has gotten me through my first dwemer stronghold and more. I just spam power attacks and health potions is all. Having fun with it (on Adept, Level 13).

And as others have said, I, too, have yet to finish Oblivion/F3/FNV because of 'Restartitis". Hated their appearance, their skill set-up, their name, their role in the world, etc. Hoping to change that here.

Same...well sort of...playing a Nord one handers/shield warrior. But trying to be a jack of all trades with other stuff to try and play all quests with one character.

You guys do realize you can bring up the console with "~" and then type showracemenu at any time during the game to take you back to the character creation screen right? You can alter everything about your character right there, hit save and go back to your game with all the new changes applied. I did this once already to change the color of the war paint, and the color of the eyes on my orc.

Wait now I am really confused. I am just trying to help here by offering options to change your character during the game without having to start all over. How do I become one of you guys then? I am really confused!
