If only we werent having two entirely seperate conversations.
Im not talking about rare ingredients, you see, that is irrelevant. It is beside the point.
It has nothing to do with anything.
What I was saying is that there were three games where it is mentioned that Ironwood trees grow in Skyrim, we go to Skyrim and it is missing Ironwood trees. Not even a handwave like 'oh, they went extinct,' no, nothing.
This bugs me.
It comes across as too little attention to detail, too little respect for lore.
So that there are other ingredients is completely beside the point.
Keep in mind, that BGS can only remember this much. Especially when you consider that the lore writers are few in such a company and there's at least thousands of lorists on these forums. With their collective mind, they can remember everything that should or should not be in a certain place, or out of place. I for one don't even know what an ironwood tree is. Never heard of it. But you do know of it. It takes very little for a company as BGS to let things slip unawarely.
And, sticking to the same formula might seem logical for fans. For example, with bands. When a band releases a brand new album that's completely different from the previous or when they change their style, the fans go berserk and only speak badly of their former favorite band. However, for a band, or in this case a software company to always keep to the same formula gets old really fast. Such companies want to do new things and reinvent themselves. So, they don't get fed up with them selves. This does not always sit well with fans, but you can't please everyone on the planet. This has nothing to do with Iron trees, but is pointed more towards the ogre/ogrim falmer/riekling discussion.
