New found love for Alchemy.

Am I right that there seems to be no recipe for Cure Poison? Is that an oversight? Would certainly help in Falmer dungeons.

My big alchemy challenge is catching dragonflies. Quick little buggers.

You can make Resist Poison potions. I usually swallow one of those when I see a big chaurus.

Right, I was hoping for Cure Poison since you can occasionally find them in shops or loot.

Use a shout, much easier and gets groups of them at once. Its funny seeing them stop flying for a second in mid air then thud to the ground.

How do you know which potions to make? Is there a book in the game or does everyone just use the wiki.

When you learn a potion from just mixing, it will add it to the alchemy menu. When you click on it, it will only show the ingredients which go into making it. There are also recipes scattered around the world, and you can eat an item to learn its effects. The higher sills in alchemy and the more effects you can learn off an ingredient. If you get stuck, wiki is a resort to finding it, though learning how to make them yourself is a bit more fun.

You could just use the wiki but it's a lot more fun to find out what makes what. If you eat the ingredients and make a bunch of potions you will eventually find out what each ingredient does.

My favorite Oblivion recipe was Painted Troll Fat + Void Salts + Void Essence
Restore Health, Fortify Health, Restore Magicka, Fortify Magicka

As for catching fish, just give them a Fus and they float to the surface, dead. Kinda funny.

I am not the greatest alchemist, but for melee I use potions of paralysis plus lingering damage health that are based on imp stools, and for archery I use potions of slow + damage health + weakness to poison based on deathbell and river betty.

Ectoplasm + Glowdust = Fortify Destruction
Saltpiles + Abecean Longfish = Fortify Restoration

Destruction needs the boost, and the second one coupled with Bane of the Undead turns undead into crispy critters

Snowberries + fire salts + frost salts is a defensive gain.

I like alchemy and sneak and archery. Better to get in, pin them to a wall and get out without anyone the wiser. Makes for a less stressed life.

Alchemy is fun!

Red Mountain flower + Imp Stool + Canis Root = Paralysis and Damage Health

My favorite is Canis Root + Imp Stool + River Betty.. I've found the river betty combined with another damage health seems to make the strongest damage health potion..My current potions with Aclhemy at 82, all 5 base perks, 2 12% fortify aclhemy items, 1 +20% and 1 +22% does around 90 damage + paralyze for 20 seconds. And I haven't even taken the perks to specifically increase posions yet.. nor did I exploit enchanting to make ridiculous items that would break the game....... no matter how much fun it might be it would run out very quick and then just get boring. I know I could do it and make this look like childs play but I consider it cheating.. And then I'd be one of those types who willingly uses an exploit then cries like a baby about how the game is too easy.. seriously the enchanting/smithing/alchemy exploit in Skyrim is like the equivlant of waiting for 500 days after you get corpsus in morrowind just before you cure it. Just breaks it and makes it way to easy even at the highest difficulty..

Other ethen that Vampire dust + luna moth wing + restore magicka item will make you invisable, incrase health regen and restore magicka...

then I also like to make fortify carry weight with giants toe and wisp wrappings, or creep cluster..

lets see.. snowberries, fire salts, and I can't remember but any item that does resist frost.. I think either red or purple flowers do but I can't remember off the top of my head..

It will make you resist frost and fire a decent ammount... Makes it nice for going up against several mages that use more then one type of magic... I don't know if theres any other ingredents that do both fire/lightnight or ice/lightning but if there is one you could potentially make a potion that guards against all 3 at once...

I can't remember the ingredents right now but I discovered a combo that doubles my destruction power with my gear...

other then those and basic restore health/magicka potions I sorta just make random crap that sells well to make spare cash at the alchemist stores
