New Joystiq Dawnguard review

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 5:47 pm

Just found a recent review from Joystiq about Dawnguard. What do you think? I think it may be a bit heavy on cons, but it's what people were discussing in the forums lately.

Decent review. A lot of stuff he says is true. He missed out some other cons and a lot of pros, but overall he is telling the truth. Looking at the comments is hilarious. It's just a load of people who think Dawnguard is perfect and can't take a word against it. Yes I enjoyed Dawnguard, but it had many failings and was WAY, WAY, WAY too expensive.

Oh god... http://gamecrazy.com/blog/dawnguard-is-too-much-like-skyrim-apparently-review/?utm_source=Joystiq%2Bcomment&utm_medium=Post&utm_campaign=Dawngaurd What an idiotic review. Yet another butthurt person who can't let Skyrim take any criticism. They obviously haven't been with the series long. Comparing Skyrim's length to MW is just stupid.

 Whoever wrote that, just.... wow.

How dare people criticize Dawnguard, how dare they not give it 100% and hail it the greatest thing EVA!!!

People disgust me.

The title is win :lmao:

And the barrage of mediocre reviews continues. I'll be waiting until i can get it for 10€. Which most likely means Steam holiday sale. Though by that time i'm propably firmly back in New Vegas :hehe:

But you know, Bethesda, had you released it for PC at the same time as XBox, i would have already bought it ;)

15 quid is way too high. The game is priced at 25 at the moment so apparently the dlc is nearly worth as much as the vanilla game... It should have been 800 points or tops 1000. It was a waste of money for the price it is.

Here's how I look at it. Movie tickets cost ten bucks a pop here. For twenty dollars, then, you get 2 tickets and usually a maximum of 5 toal hours of entertainment.

Skyrim gave me 20+ hours, at least. So for me, it was worth it.

Wow the comments on that article are a little deranged. The guy didn't like DG very much, ok that's his opinion, why do they need to flame him half to death just because they have a different view to him. I often wonder if people on the internet are as psychotic in real life. If so I fear for the future of mankind. The internet can be a horrible place, whatever you do don't have an opinion different to other people.

Oh gee, bad reviews? That's horrible...... Yeah. Right.

Seems the reviewers didn't much care for it, and neither one of the two reviews referenced here even talked about vamp attacks in town..... my guess is, they didn't play long enough for that to become an issue.

I don't compare Skyrim to things like cod and films. I compare it to previous elder scrolls. Might as well compare it to a painting. Morrowind and OB combined cost me tops £60 when I bought them new(combined price) Combined playtime is well over 1000 hours and well this dlc just doesn't cut it. I don't waste money on things like films so I regret spending so much on this for what I got.

Lol true. Even though its the internet and I should know better by now I'm still surprised/disgusted with just how vile people can be to eachother. I've not played DG myself yet so I can't really judge the guys comments against my own experiences. His main gripe seem to be that he didn't like the VL.

At the minimum it would've been ten. Not really a significant difference, but that's just how I feel.

Although to be fair you didn't pay for yours so you can't really comment.

Really? I would've paid regardless. I know how I feel about my money and after all the time I spent with the new content, I know I would've been satisfied with the price.

As I said, there are many other ways I could spend twenty bucks and receive far less enjoyment.

Would you spend it on the other things? I don't go to the cinema much precisely because it's a rip off.

All forms of entertainment are overpriced, and the DLC should only be worth about 1 dollar and the game disc being worth 10 maximum, and probably around 5. Of course, as human beings, we love to be entertained. We are willing to pay 6-10x the amount that things are worth for amusemant,

Precisely! I wouldn't. I get much more enjoyment out of Skyrim.

I think it's a bit unfortunate that you didn't enjoy it as much as I did. But after all the exploring of the new stuff I've done, *I* feel 20 is justified. Don't think I'd go higher, though.

Whoa, do you know the amount of work that goes into making games?

All games would be crap if we only paid 10-5 dollars for it. I don't know where that came from.
