No, most shouts were done WRONG in this game. Shouts need to have unique effects, not copy and pasted effects from Magic. Magic needs an overhaul entirely, and Shouts need to be UNIQUE. Whirlwind Sprint, Fus Ro Dah, Slow Time, and Elemental Fury....shouts like these, with unique effects, are the way to go.
Shouts that simply do x elemental damage and Calm enemies and make you Invisible or Paralyze enemies are just....silly. You're just taking existing effects from magic and making them shouts, I'd rather they continue putting out unique effects.
I share similar feelings for some of the Standing Stones....The Shadow, for example. Invisibility for 30 seconds once per day is just a joke.
THIS. I agree 100% on this. Dragon Shouts are supposed to be completely unique compared to what Mages are capable of. The ones he mentioned are indeed unique are unmatched by a spell one can just learn from a tome they find or buy, and we need more shouts like this. Infact, an idea I have for a unique shout would be this - a Shout that lets you project yourself from your physical body, allowing you to scout ahead and 'release the shout'/press the shout/power button again to end the effect and start the cooldown. First word allows you project and travel while your body is completely vulnerable, second word allows you interact with the world around you (ex. pulling levers, opening doors, entering and leaving buildings, anything except loot, talk with NPCs, enter combat/fight, stuff like that) in addition to being unseen in spirit form, while the final word allows you to possess a creature or humanoid (anything that isn't a ghost/spirit, Dragon, or Dwemer Machine really Corporeal undead like Draugr would be available to possess though.) and use their body for awhile until you release or they die under your control. Then if they die, you automatically return to your body and the cooldown start, or if you release, you can continue to wander around. It's a completely original idea that hasn't been implemented yet, something that not a single spell has ever done or been close to doing, and I think would make for a very fun, interesting Dragon Shout to learn.
And I also agree on the Magic overhaul idea, fixing some spells, adding more spells, old and new might I add, and even fix some of the Standing Stones. .....Not the Ritual though, Ritual Stone's fine with me.
