Now that the DLC adds crossbows, I can imagine thousands of people in this forum crying out "Why no spears Bethesda!?". I think we should calm down and enjoy life a little bit. Crossbows were requested for a LONG time and I'm glad Bethesda is adding them :)

I imagine crossbows will be a one shot-one kill weapon, but with very slow rate of fire. Useful for assassins

So are katanas....kinda, I really would love to see throwing daggers, and a blow gun that by itself does no damage but amplifi
es poisons
Yes
Dai-katana = ebony blade/ebony greatswords
Katana = blades swords, ebony swords are basically in similar stlye
Scimitars = The Redguard soldiers already have them.

I'd personally like a flail (though it'd be a pain to animate), halberd or javelin. (They were in Fallout new vegas, so I don't see why not skyrim)
Yes!
Dragon bone weapons
Yes!!

Blow darts would be fun as hell. And having a unique one with amplify poison enchant isn't a bad idea either.
More weapons would be nice, but I want better enchants... (I'm looking at you, "fortify shout recharge")

Staff, staff and staff, all the priest NPCs should be rocking them, mages as well.

Oh and I like the idea of a flail, would fit in with the feel of skyrim.

I second the idea of a flail. It would probably be a pain to animate (seeing as there's no fluid cloth-like animations for capes yet), but a flail would be righteous. Also second Dragon bone weapons, and crossbows, and staves, and Dai-katanas, and...

DO ALL THE THINGS

These are some ideas I thought of for new weapon types to implement in Skyrim, meaning that there would be one for every different smithing class.

Dai-Katana
2-Handed, speed of 1H sword (1.0)
20% more damage than 1H sword of same material (fair enough, since you won't be using a shield)
Very costly to make/smith

Katana
1-Handed, attack speed of 1.2
Same damage as a sword of same material
Also very expensive to make, requiring rare metals to manufacture

Scimitar
1-Handed, attack speed of 1.0
More damage than 1H Swords (10% maybe) but shorter reach (due to curved blade)

Please leave a reply. Thanks
You can create that mod for yourself but I don't wish to see it added in the game.

But what I think maybe fun to have is a bastardsword. When you hold it with two hands it's attack speed and damage is a little higher and it uses two-handed perk and when you hold it with one hand it's slower and not so effective as it is with two hand and uses one-handed perk. It's damage, reach and speed are something between sword and greatsword of the same material. If it's also possible to use quick button to change it between one- and two-handed mode it would be really handy in a battle.

Obviously spears, pikes, flails, crossbows etc.. But I'd really like to see some different skins. Or say, a warhammer that's made in Winterfell has a noticably different look and/or style from a warhammer crafted in Whiterun. Even if the materials used were the same, and while blacksmithing and crafting them yourself and you could choose from said different styles. Same for swords and axes etc. That would add several types of weapon per material used.

I'd like to see new types of weapons like Khajit weapons or more Orc stuff. Oh yeah and spears as well. In real medival times they were far more common than swords.
Cutlass
Kajit would probably use claw weapons.
Someting basic like this Or something more elaborate like this

spears and dragonbone weapons.
There are a few usable mods which have Dragon bone weapons added in the game. I'm using "Dragon Bone Weapons Complete" for them.

What I'm talking about is implementing these ideas throughout all platforms, especially on consoles, that don't have mods

Deer Horn Knives could make sense. Just make the Skyrim ones be made from antlers. Maybe chokutos could be imports from Morrowind.

Personally, I think katanas are over rated.

I want to see bastard swords. They would function as both one handed and two handed swords, potentially allowing for a more dynamic play style. As a two handed sword, it would deal less damage than other two handed swords, but it'd be faster. As a one handed sword it'd be slower, but deal more damage than longswords. So say you want to deal more damage, so you use it with two hands. Then your situation changes and you need more defense, to heal yourself, or something similar. Then you equip your shield or spell and the sword becomes a one handed weapon.

That is also an awesome idea, though I fear it wouldn't be possible, because that flexibility between 1H and 2H isn't programmable (I think so)
