Speaking of rumors, does anyone place any weight into that Radeon HD 6670 one for the next Xbox?

I don't think it will happen.

As said earlier, Micro$oft is in it for the money, but they're not stupid.

And I usually get games new, simply because I only get games on special occasions, ie. Christmas, my birthday, etc.

BUT the smaller controller is really dumb, the controller design now is actually a bit too small, this is why I use the bigger, corded controllers.

I think it's very possible. It's a decent card and probably the power of card that the next gen consoles will go for. It isn't powerful compared as newer cards obviously but keeping in mind they need to keep to a budget I think it's entirely possible.

The Radeon HD 6670 costs around $70 currently and I'm sure MS will get a discount of that from their supplier as they will but in bulk (as in millions)

Who says they won't do the same thing with their console and used games?

If Microsoft did it, then Sony would be wise not too. Imagine all the gamers that would flock to Sony to avoid the draconian DRM schemes.

Wii U 600$ a good family system for a decent price. Xbox- 800-900$ Range, no thanks!

I have been looking at Sony, looks like they will go with some Hi tech stuff (As always). The price though will be steep.

While I frequently buy used games, I can see the reasoning behind this. One copy of, say, Gears of War sold may pass between five or six different people that, if they didn't have the option of purchasing it used, may have bought it new.

Do developers even see a cent of the revenue companies like Gamestop generate when they sell a used game?

A trade-off would be nice if Microsoft go ahead with this - don't allow us to play used games but lower the price of a brand new game by 10-15 dollars. The money they lose on the lower prices could be balanced by the extra sales.

Honestly, I suspect that integrated graphics will surpass a 6670 within the lifespan of the Xbox 720, which would be hilarious. Although something tells me that no matter how powerful (or not) it is and how much other crap Microsoft pulls, the darn things will still sell like crazy.

I've been entertaining myself by showing my console loving friends this chart when they mention something about the next Xbox being 6 times more powerful: http://trubritar.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/games4.png

I am interested to see what the CPU will be like though, considering that's where most of the work gets done on a console anyway.

Of course this is all speculation at this point, but this is all big news. I'm sure that gamers and game stores, especially Gamestop, will be up in arms, should this turn out to be true. While I'm all for new technology, I don't understand the purpose of making the consumer unhappy in order to generate a larger profit. In this sort of economy especially, happy customers and customer loyalty are the two most important things to look for in the entertainment industry. I feel like this is exactly the sort of thing that could backfire on Microsoft.

Somehow---I don't see this working out to well for Microsoft. I mean a new game becomes used right after you take it out of the package and into your game unit, that could mean (if this is not thought out well enough) as soon as you stop playing the game, the system would reject the disk as soon as you put the disk back in. If Xbox wants Blu-Ray fine---leave the lock out used game idea OUT.

So for not accepting used games, am I the only one who isn't thinking it just means if you play a game it automatically means no one else can play it? Cause would they just completely ruin some sales as gamestop or something, or if a friend just wants to let a friend borrow a game. I think they meant something else, but whoever leaked this information did a poor job at explaining what it might actually mean. I have no idea what it could be, but I don't think it means that if you play a game once it become unplayable to everyone else. Also whatever it might be I think gamestop or any other place like that will be given something to reverse its effect so they could still sell used games.

Gah, used games are brilliant for me as I don't tend to pick up games muchmucmuch later after their release. I doubt I will get this new Xbox anyhoo, but this is only going to encourage everyone in the industry to phase out used games altogether.

Wow... what a bunch of garbage.. at least the last part. Hopefully Sont won't do this. I have a feeling that if Microsoft does this, Sony won't. I am guessing that Sony will take this to their advantage. If people see that Sony doesn't do this, then I am guessing Sony will get more customers. Of course I know used game sales don't go to the game companies, but just having an option is sometimes enough to persuade people to come over to another side.

Not as far as I'm aware, unless we pay them royalties. With the price of pre-owned games versus the price you get for trading them in... It's a possibility, but I doubt it.

No, hopefully they won't. I work there you know.

Not a cent, from what I've heard.

That's why more and more games come with online passes and other cut content that you only get with a new copy.

Another thing I'm not seeing about Xbox getting the Blu-ray tech. is that Blu-ray tech is owned by both Sony and Phillips, MS is going to have to buy patten rights from Sony and I don't think Sony will allow that---unless Microsoft want to merge with Sony but that's never going to happen.

I never knew Blu-ray was all Sony's tech. So would that almost confirm that this article is just speculation? I guess we just never know, time will tell...

It doesn't belong to Sony. The helped develop it but that doesn't mean they have a monopoly on the technology.

And contrary to what the fan-boys believe, they aren't going to withhold it from Microsoft because of the stupid "console war". If they could make money from licensing the technology, why wouldn't they?

Great...

Being broke most of the year, I almost exclusively buy used games since I can't afford new ones. Hopefully, it's just bull.

Samsung, Hitachi, LG and Philips, who are all on that list, all provided DVD drives for the 360. So yeah, Microsoft is in the clear on that.
