OMG! They killed Alvor!

Post » Fri Jun 08, 2012 6:09 am

The assistants of the Merchants usually Take over, Alvor, Sven and that Drunkard died in a recent attack. I took their bodies and sent it down river, then I mass released flowers into the river. some poor sods gonna come across their corpses down river BUT ITS THE SENTIMENT THAT COUNTS.

Okay good im not the only one who does weird stuff like this lol. I started doing this habit after a couple dungeons and finding those poor old souls who died in some dark room with only a journal to their name which tells of their last days. Usually a nightshade or a death bell I'll drop off and if its outside i send them down river too for a somewhat proper viking burial, minus the ship and the fire lol

didn't Bethesda say that if a shop owner died, someone would take over the shop? guess that was a lie...

I'm pretty sure it was a quest specific example, but everyone just started misquoting it as an example of 'yay radiant everything is awesome'. And then people actually believed that there was going to be a system accounting for the deaths of any shopkeeper, and now predictably we're at the 'Bethesda lied!!!' stage.

In my game Alvor was killed by a dragon. His corpse would lie in the street in front of his house for weeks, it just wouldn't disappear. And every time I visited Riverwood his wife would walk outside and be shocked to find her husband's body there. Over and over. So to stop that I threw him in the river. :P

Lol what is it about 'Riverun' (correct spelling)? that keeps making dragons attack their village so often?
I found "Cookbook for Dragons" in a chest and it mentioned "blacksmiths taste just like really big chickens." (Yes, I'm kidding!)

Oh yeah, I had to look it up, but it is Riverwood and not Riverrun. Don't feel bad - I keep calling it Ravenholm (I used to play a LOT of Half Life 3!)

He got killed by a Dragon in my game too, except I dragged his corpse over to the Smithy and placed him in the furnace. Nords don't burn well, he's been smouldering in there for weeks.

yeah I was sooo gonna say that but I came in the thread to late lol.

but yeah I do things like faux burials and paying respects because you couldn't really do that in Oblivion and you could barely, just barely do that in Morrowind (dispose of corpse ftw)

With my Cannibal Werewolf guy I eat anything I Kill. undead and Dwemer don't count.

the npc's that i want to live, i smith legendary/enchanted weapons for them. Bow, shield, sword and 1 high dmg arrow.

i wait till nightfall when they are asleep and pickpcoket -sneak- the weapons to them so they are better equiped. I wish they could wear the armor and jewelery too but they dont which svcks.

hirelings i just trade the weapons to them. Again wish the NPCs would wear the armor given/shown/used permenantly but they dont after you release them.

would be better if you could give any (including guards) NPC an upgraded item and armor and they would always use it over thier built in default. Just another way to customise and better the games immersion imo.

I doubt something like this will ever come available to us console (xbox & ps ) users.

it svcks that i have to picocket an npc just to make them better.

Good riddance. Alvor sent the Brotherhood after me early in the game for stealing a few Iron ingots. Bastard.

This is why I side with Hadvar. I get the ingots for free (although I sneak in his house, and take his blacksmith potions. Big friend I am. But those are relatively rare).

They do eventually re-equip themselves, after you re-hire them. Well, Ive only seen Lydia do it, and if she can, they all can. I wish Lydia would use the Deadric bow I made for her, instead of her default one.

Oh snap! "Riverwood" lol been callin it Riverun was wonderin what that guy meant on an earlier post "guess thats what everyones calling it now" Sorry for the confusion.

I agree indeed if any character can die mistakenly, then they should implement a ceremony system of sorts and get respect points for doing so.

PC FTW.

I see no reason to play the game with certain people dead, so I resurrect them.

If you are on pc and hes still there you can target him in console and resurrect him or (since you know hes dead) use the placeatme (baseID) command to replicate another alvor.

There's no reason to duplicate the guy, you just want to resurrect him. So select his corpse while in the console, and type "resurrect". He should come back to life when you exit the console.

All you guys playing God resurrecting dead NPC's... sheesh I dunno, maybe the Lord (or at least Todd Howard.. close enough!) had another use for them and they were MEANT to die  haha Maybe Dagon himself hired their souls?

You can also do 'resurrect 1', to resurrect him without resetting his inventory. So you can steal all his clothes and then revive him. 'Huh, what happened?'
