OMG! They killed Alvor!

Post » Thu Jun 07, 2012 7:09 pm

So for a couple o days now I have been wondering back to riverun to try and talk to Alvor, the black smith to see what kinda goods he has for sale/missions. But for some reason everytime I went there to see him I could never find him anywhere. For days i thought maybe their was a mission i had to complete to make him reappear again.
Well after one of my visits to riverun, i was encountered by some hired thugs at the town, after quickly dispacthing the (ebony para sword :)) i noticed hunched in a corner on someones porch was good ole poor ole Alvor, dead as could be. Great i thought. Maybe if Riverrun didnt get attacked by dragons twice everyday he may not have got killed lol. But some how he did. And there he was. I quickly looted his body of gold and keys, and are now wondering, what is this goin to do for my game now as I cant start at a later save point cuz its been way long past that? So what do I do now? Am i missing anything important that he might have shown or gave me? Is there anyway at all to ressurect him back to his good old blacksmithing days?

He is only somewhat important at the beginning of the game when you talk to him about the dragon attack on helgen and he says go to whiterun or something. Other then that you could go the entire game without seeing him if you never went back to riverwood. If you are on pc and hes still there you can target him in console and resurrect him or (since you know hes dead) use the placeatme (baseID) command to replicate another alvor.

Good riddance. Alvor sent the Brotherhood after me early in the game for stealing a few Iron ingots. Bastard.

That's what you get for following Ralof instead of Hadvar. :stare: If you follow Hadvar, IIRC, Uncle Alvor's relationship rank goes up a bit and you can take a few low-value items from him. His steel ingots near the workbench are a great source of free tempering material in the early game, and he doesn't bat an eyelash when you take them.

Hmmm, interesting to know. I did notice when I followed Hadvar that the workbench had ingots that werent labelled steal, but in the house certain items would of been labelled steal regardless. Is this true for both sides?

Yeah, i guess so, but I'm not a fan of Imperials, even though I'm a Breton. I kill them on site.

I will always remember Alvor with a fond heart, taught me how to smith and was only the second NPC I spoke too on coming from Helgen.

Psh, I take his steel and iron ingots either way (steal them at night LOL)

But yea, Sven and Alvor died once during a dragon attack. I put flowers next to their corpses, but man, I couldn't stand it. So I just used the console to resurrect them LOL (on pc)
They both got up like nothing had happened, even so they had been dead like a week!!! LOL

Woo, i am on pc what is this source code of ressurection you speak of?
Or is it even worth it? Does Alvor have any better smithed weapons or more ingots than the usuall smither would? Say from Whitrun or Solitude?

If his body is still there, target him in console so the ID pops up then type resurrect. If his body is not there you will need to use the placeatme command with his ID. Theres lots of blacksmiths in the world, and they all will have better stuff available as you level. Resurrect him I guess if you have a fondness for him, otherwise theres not alot to do with him.

Oh nice, thx for the input. I hope it doesnt matter that i jacked his house key lol.
One thing i have noticed is that the chick blacksmith in whitrun tends to have more weapons and armor to buy than any other smither ive found so far. Way more than Grey Mane at sky forge and apparently hes suppose to be the best smither?

I never go to the skyforge guy. I think the only reason hes considered the best is because he uses the skyforge and can make armor others cant't using the forge. I think the forge is what gives him that status more then his own personal skill. Blacksmith inventory varies and you will find yourself jumping around to different towns later on (i did frequently on my archer in search of better arrows)

He is a starter Blacksmith in a starter town.
He isn't important once you leave, eh..."Riverrun"(as many people seem to call it nowadays)

I had to stop fast traveling to Riverwood because dragons kept killing / de-pantsing him. Last time I walked into town, he was already dead. I decided it was just his time to go so I didn't load a save to "revive" him. I looted his body and bid farewell to Alvor Dragon-bait.

Lol what is it about 'Riverun' (correct spelling)? that keeps making dragons attack their village so often?

I think there are only a few cases of that. For instance, the Riverwood Trader's sister will take over the shop, I think.

Gram, it's not a spoiler. It has nothing to do with any quest, it's just that he happened to die in Chotch's game.

Oh, my bad. I was trying to avoid reading anything to avoid further spoilers, so I thought his death was part of a quest. My mistake.

You can still sell and buy them at general traders, although they don't have the same selection available for sale.

Well theres opther merchants besides blacksmiths which sell armor and such. If you were to kill all merchants then yeah, you would be left with no one to buy from.

The assistants of the Merchants usually Take over, Alvor, Sven and that Drunkard died in a recent attack. I took their bodies and sent it down river, then I mass released flowers into the river. some poor sods gonna come across their corpses down river BUT ITS THE SENTIMENT THAT COUNTS.
