One of very few disapointments

I prefer the Fallout/Skyrim lock picking, although the lock picks break way to easily in Skyrim. Try a master lock in the game, the pick will break even if you barely turn the lock. I found lock picking frustrating in the beginning of Oblivion, but once you've picked enough locks it was a piece of cake.

Just need to get higher on the skill and the master locks dont break your lockpick that easily.

On the topic though, I dont like the new lockpicking at all tbh. And i didnt like oblivions either. Perhaps something new is needed. Something thats is more challenging than Skyrims one and less of a challenge than Oblivions. Something between.

If i can lockpick master lock with skill lvl of 20 its way too easy.

I prefer the lock picking in Skyrim to the lock picking in both Morrowind and Oblivion.

I find it far more enjoyable than Oblivion's. In Oblivion, I usually just unlocked stuff with the console.

Same. I have not used the console for this purpose once with Skyrim.

I think the problem with Oblivion's lock-picking is that it was too easy. You could have no skill in lock-picking, but unlock everything pretty easily. At least with the FO3 and Skyrim styles, it's easier to break lock-picks on difficult locks, so the feature is less broken.

I like the way lockpicking is now too, better than Oblivion. Not that Oblivion's was bad, I just like the new system better.

I like them both, Skyrim for simplicity (though Oblivion's was extremely easy) and Oblivion's for it's realism and uniqueness.

I think Skyrim's system is overall a better one than Oblivion's, seeing as you can no longer pick a very hard lock with one lockpick with a Lockpick skill of 1 anymore.

Is anyone else upset about Lock-picking?
It's too small of a disappointment to actually have any effect on the game, but I hate the way you pick locks. I honestly don't see why they ever changed it from Oblivion.
In Oblivion, you pushed the pins up and applied tension until you hit them all and opened the lock. Then they go and change it for Skyrim (and Fallout 3) to sticking a pick in, and only adjusting the angle.
Not only did Oblivion demonstrate the proper way to pick locks, but it was a much better "mini game".

I'm dissappointrd about this and magic and other things as well.

I thought oblivion's lock picking was horribly boring and repetitive. Once I got a decent LP skill I'd always automate it just to not have to deal with it.

I like Skyrims a lot better.

Yeah, I don't like that there isn't custom spells... then again, Oblivion's custom spells eventually became too overpowered anyway.

I think it's awesome. I loved it in Fallout 3, but it was too easy.

It's basically the same, only more difficult than Fallout 3. It's a challenge, but still user friendly. They should just stick with this system from now on.

I guess I'd be alone in actually preferring lock picking as it was in Morrowind.

Love the new system. Oblivions lockpicking was semi impossible unless you had infinite lockpicks and i broke like a million of them trying to pick the damn locks, skyrim's feels much more realistic. rather than seeing sinde the lock

The new system is a bit less realistic, but if it is indeed like Fallout 3's I prefer it. In Oblivion I always just clicked that auto attempt button because attempting to unlock it the normal way was just frustrating.

I think Skyrim's system is more fun.

It takes the reaction time needed from Oblivion's (moving the lock back into place before your pick breaks) and the general minigame from Fallout 3. I, personally, like it more than both of those.

I enjoy both kinds of lockpicking and my only complaint with skyrim haveing fallout styly locks is the modernization; the delicate parts required to create a modern lock but since it is 200 years after oblivion and if the lore fits I say it works just as well. Too bad there are no "ancient" chests that would have oblivion era locks to apease the fans of the older style.

I always used a mod in Oblivion that covered up the pins, so you had to know when to click by listening to the sound the tumblers make. I felt like Oblivion's default minigame was too easy, especially after I'd logged hundreds of hours into the game. I was hoping it would be more difficult in Skyrim, but honestly it's even easier now, at least for me. Lockpicks are more common now too. My character's walking around with over 50 already and I'm only level 12. And I'm playing a thief!

I prefer the new lockpicking system, easier and more logical.

I agree. It is much better than Oblivion. It's basically Fallout 3 system.
