Out of respect

Post » Thu May 03, 2012 4:37 am

One time while traveling from Fort Greymoor to Rorikstead I met a single bandit that tried to rob me. She was a strong Nord woman wielding a powerful greatsword and her skill with it was impeccable. After our first few battles which I must say I stood no chance I came to realize this was going to take some real skill and quick reflexes to take her out. I ended up beating her with a paralyze potion but then thought na she deserves better than that so after a reload I took another shot at it. The next battle was one for the ages where I used no potions or shouts just pure sword wielding and dodging. It was tough but this battle ended with me barely getting the last hit in while being only one hit away from certain death. After the battle as I was checking her inventory to see what I could loot I decided that her death was an honorable one and she deserved better than that of the common rabble. So I picked her up, took her behind a boulder off the side of the road, said a prayer to Talos and left a blue mountain flower at her final resting place. After this battle I now have a new found respect for strong Nord women wielding greatswords and now when confronted with one I make sure to give them a great death, respect their corpses by not looting them and leaving a blue flower on their bodies.

I have little to no respect for bandits, they chose that way of living, if they decide to attack me I will utilise any method to kill them.

But if I encounter an honourable opponent, for example the old Orc random encounter, I will make it a true sword to sword battle.

My character Bilal is one of those "ends justify the means" kinda guy, that and he just like to cause pain to others, which is why he love attacking Legion controlled forts even though he helped them take over them.....sinister laugh

Nice OP, very nice.
I really love how the game allows you to do things like this on your own whim, I've often given various npc's a 'decent burial' so to speak.
Things like this are what make TES for me, it's a very good indication of immersion if a game makes you want to do these sentimental acts.

My latest thing on my vampire assassin is to leave a coin beside the corpse of the hit.
My thief used to leave apples in place of important stolen items.
I was so offended by Drelas' unprovoked attack that I spent a good 20 minutes hanging his corpse on the spit of his own firepit in the most torturous looking fashion I could manage.
Then I sat at his table and ate stew.

That sounds cool. Wouldn't mind leaving a coin on each eye on my Assassin build but I can't (or haven't figured out yet how to) drop a coin on PS3.

OP, these are the threads I like to read here. Thank you.
Speaking of being sentimental, I have found that I like Madesi (sp), the jeweler in Riften. Once, a dragon attacked in the town and all the guards and townsfolk fought bravely. Afterwards, I saw Madesi's lifeless body on the ground. It made me angry. So, I reloaded and rushed to fight by his side. This time we won with no casualties. It felt good.

Nice story.

I find myself laying out the Thalmor corpses (group of 3 that travels the roads) in the road. I WANT travelers to see their bloody remains scattered over Skyrim. I WANT the Thalmor to fear going outside. I never loot anything but gold from their bodies.

On the other hand, I always stash the Imperial scum corpses out of sight and I don't attack them unless they have a captive.

For me, it's a significant difference. I have absolutely zero respect for the Thalmor. They exist to die by my hand. The Imperials are just on the wrong side. If they would throw down their arms, I'd show mercy.

I tend to have respect for those who help keep me alive, even if they are inept.

I have disdain for those who try to end my life, no matter how good they are at it.

Usually when I kill someone, I try to find a body of water to dump their corpse into. I want to see their corpses get carried away by a current and hopefully flung over the side of a waterfall. When there is no body of water, I simply drop the corpses from a certain height and watch them bounce off the rocks below. It's what they'd want me to do... I think.
