1.4 patch expectations?

Post » Mon May 21, 2012 12:27 am

I want to see those data fixes moving.

I'm not asking for everything all at once but the most common ones need to be addressed in the next patch or people will just phase out of playing.
The game was released quite a while ago now.

Blood on the Ice springs to mind.
Also the numerous bugs in several steps of the various thieves guild quests.

Lots of people getting stung on houses, Markarth steward failing to offer purchase is a common one and Windhelm house because of Blood on the Ice (I swear, fix that one questline and a LOT of stuff will fall into place.)

imo they need to radically expand the scope of possible player actions for quests... for example Petra the Hagraven.
That quest is bugged purely because whoever wrote it failed to predict that players may choose not to release a vicious hagraven from a cage and kill the sister alone instead.
(and considering the cage itself shows an action prompt that does nothing while the actual release is an easy to miss chain hanging off to the side, somebody really dropped the ball on this one).

That's poor writing, nothing more.
Quite a few quests are bugged because of failure to provide enough outcomes for potential actions by the player.
In a game where freedom is king, this is a real recipie for disaster which we have all tasted by now, in some form or other.

So yeah... quests please.

I hope they can remove all these quest items from my inventory that are slowly but surely building up. So far, the weight of most of them isn't that high, but they do add up eventually. Right now I have several musical instruments from various Bard College quest, several daggers and other quest related weapons, and even after finishing the Red Eagle quest, I just got it assigned to my active quests list AGAIN after I picked up another copy of the Red Eagle related book and made the mistake of reading it. This tarted the quest again even though I completed it about 20 game hours ago!

Everything else that has already been mentioned in this thread, I too have had problems with. Bounties that ever go away and other such stuff like that. Also missing quest PIPs for several side quests and even a few major ones. When I activate these quests, no PIP appears in my compass or on the map, so I have no way of knowing who, what or where I am supposed to go to advance them.

And like the post above mine, they need to do a better job to dealing with players who plunder a dungeon, cave or castle related to a quest BEFORE they actually receive the quest, and inadvertantly have removed a quest item from that location which will later come back and bite them in the ass. The game should be coded in such a way that those quest related items are either not present in those location unless the quest is active, or make the chest, person or whatever holds the item unavailable to the player unless the quest they are connected with is currently active in their journal at the time the gamer stumbles upon them.

As was said previously... If you are going to allow players to explore caves and structure that are related to quests, then safeguards need to be in place to prevent the player from unknowingly screwing themselves by finding and later selling or dropping a vital element needed to complete said quest down the road.

I know this is already on there but this seriously needs to be fixed otherwise players will not be able to continue with their game! On the Quest "Revealing the unseen", some players like myself cannot turn the beams of light with our magic. I cannot activate the crystal again that I have put in the Oculory. This meaning that I cannot complete the quest and cannot continue with the Mages quests anymore! Please fix this !!!!!!

I cannot continue anymore! Please fix

FIX ALL THE QUESTS!!!

I will say however that ever since I learned how NOT to break the game I've had zero broken quests. Here's the short list;
1) don't kill NPCs willy nilly
2) keep as few quests (active or unactive) in your quest book
3) multipue saves and back up your saves... duh
4) AND ALWAYS A-L-W-A-Y-S CONSULT THE UESPwiki before starting any quest to check for known bugs and how to avoid them

Ever since taking these simple steps I've had ZERO bugs and/or glitches, my first game I did'nt do any of this and every other quest broke.

I'm am curious about the freezing issue, I'm on patch 1.2 my file sive is currently 13 megs and I've had no feezing issues. Does anybody know what exactly is causing it? Is it file size?

Just fix the stupid bug where I can no longer get the Jarl's guy in Markarth to offer to sell me Vindrel Hall. I completed all the quests and now that I have the money for it, the buy home dialogue is not showing up. Its the only bug Ive run into while playing the game.

Bandits/creatures not respawning in previously cleared areas after you've been given a bounty to go back and kill something/someone in that area.

Whats wrong with your fences? While I dont use them all I know the Windhelm one should work ok and my wife uses the one in Markath just fine, is it not increasing the amount of money they have or what exactly?

None of em work, not in any of the holds. Not in my game. Either they dont give an option to buy/sell at all or stolen merchandice doesent show up in the trade window.

The Season Unending bug, I really want to finish the main questline and the stormcloaks questline.

This... I have been just wandering around but what I really want to do is move on in the main bloody quest. Naming a quest "Season Unending" was just asking for trouble. All I know is that I waited for the 1.3 patch and yet still the quest is shagged. Makes me think I should have bought the game around easter time maybe. Sure as hell I shouldn't have pre-ordered this... I expected bugs but not one that would put a brick wall across the damned main quest.

Actually since the 1.3 patch I have noticed a whole LOAD of extra bugs... Go figure.

I know people are annoyed by the freezing issues and lag issues - but honestly, I can reset and be up and playing again on the xbox 360. The bugs that are preventing me from finishing quest lines - where I get the item before I get the quest and others like those - prevent me from advancing in the game. I would vote that quest blocking bugs and bugs that destroy player items take priority for the next patch. Those a broken functionality and should take priority over performance issues. I still have a bookshelf in my hosue that EATS my books... very annoying.

Here is a VERY annoying quest bug:

Use Dawnbreaker during your mission to :"FIND KING OLAF'S VERSE" and when you get to it - its below the floor and you cant pick it up or even see it - its just not there.
You have reload an earlier game - kill the Drugar without dawnbreaker and the verse will be there. Very silly.

I would like Weapon Racks, Wall Mounts for Weapons and Shields, mannequinns and Bookcases to be fixed. Right now, unless you buy ALL upgrades for a house before entering it for the first time some combination of the above WILL be broken, and cannot be fixed.

It's been there as an issue since day one. I'd love to have that fixed.

Obviously I'd like to see most of these issues fixed, as promised with January's data patch but I'd also like to see some balancing issues fixed.

Like magic damage scaling at least, it becomes pathetic after like 45+

I wish they'd take out the Arrow in The Knee comments from guards.

In 150 hours I've never heard them say it once, and for the last fifty hours I've been purposefully listening for it, would be nice to hear it once in game, I had to YouTube it to see what people were going on and on and on about.

I try and avoid Whiterun now as it does your head in that bloke yabbering about people being obsessed by death, that bloke telling me he works in the general store, the little girl telling me how she works on the fruit and veg stall with her mam. But my worst one has to be that bloke asking if ive been to the cloud district.

1. Gotta be the issue that allows you to wreck quests by obtaining items before the quest is issued, such as the Forbidden Legend quest ( mine is knackered, obviously).

2. Your companion. I've lost track of the times i've had to backtrack to look for the stupid sod after realising they are no longer following me because they've buggered off to kill a sodding Mudcrab or Skeever that i'd ignored, or tried to take on a Giant or three by themselves.

3. Id like a sort option in the inventory. Its a pain scrolling through seven hundred potions to find the one you want. Why not a simple sort option. By type, weight, value, etc...(i think Oblivion had one but i'm not sure).

4. Dragon spawning. Look, i'm not saying they aren't impressive but after killing your 20th dragon they do become more of a pest than a spectacle. This is especially true after you have just emerged from some one hour plus trawl through some Draugr Deathlord infested dungeon, loaded down with loot and you just want to sell your stuff and have a rest. You emerge into the sunlight and what happens, your pad vibrates and there's a bloody dragon circling above. You know its going to die (after a long and tedious battle with ranged spells or arrows) but you go through it anyway and you get a few Dragon bones (if you can carry them) and a soul. I'm not saying get rid...just less.

Anyway, more a wish list than expectations.

And youve done the associated quests for each fence to get the city under the thieves guild? if you do all 4 all fences including Tonila (SP?) should have a 4K limit at that point

no only Tonila is in the Flaggon, there is one fence in Markarth, Windhelm, White Run, and I forget the last hold there is one

http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Thieves_Guild_(faction)

Fences are the ones you help under improving the guild and will buy your stolen goods, the merchants that move into the Flagon are just normal merchants
