Don't be gullible. Nothing has been confirmed. Hell, for all we know he'll tweet tomorrow that he misspoke in his prior tweet, and if not it didn't say that it specifically fixed it, just that it 'improved' long term play. It may just chug to 15-20 fps instead of being unplayable after the patch.

Will it fix the atrocious quincunx anti-aliasing too? And by that I mean turn it off altogether.

It is not 100% confirmed this patch will fix the lag issues, and I don't know how you assume Pete confirmed it. Those answers given on twitter are vague at best, and seeing as how they just began to "look into it" only 2 days ago, there is no way they turned out the patch fast enough, since Pete announced the patch was sent to QA yesterday. I'm hopeful this patch can fix these issues, because the 24 hours I played in this game were absolutely mind blowing and amazing. Until there is an official announcement, from someone at Bethesda that is not a vague tweet by the PR guy, then you cannot claim the patch is confirmed to fix it.

It's always possible though that they knew about this issue prior to release, and were working on the fix hoping to get the patch in before anyone began to notice these issues. We just won't know until we get this patch, and find out for ourselves.

Heh, I just hope this patch doesn't break the game for those of us who have been playing for a week and still have yet to experience any lag.

Im personally confident this will fix the lag. Bethesda understand what's going on just as they understood all the problems with fallout etc. They fix their problems effectively. Imagine if they chucked us this temporary patch that caused more problems than it fixed? we would be infuriated. They take their time, anolyse the best possible solution and extract the solution like they have done.

Do you work for bethesda? How they hell can you say they understood the fallout problems when both Fo3 and NV to this day still suffer from it? They rarely fix anything quickly on PS3, Oblivion can testify to that.

Get off their nuts.

The only way this patch fixes the framerate is if they new about it before they released the game...which sadly is possible.

Oblivion runs great on my PS3 (although I realize I have the original one done by 3rd part) and Fallout 3 (with all DLC's and a 9 mb save) runs great on my PS3. FONV was constructed by Obsidian (<- not Bethesda), a team with little knowledge of Gamebryo, in one year. I still have very few problems with FONV, but those issues should not be placed on Bethesda.

I'm pretty sure his tweet saying "look into it" is just a generic response. He can't really say much, despite how much we desire him to, so he kinda has a limited amount he can say that answers our questions.

I hope it also fixes the chugging of the screen in forests when you move the camera slowly. That's my main gripe.

Oblivion GOTY has a bug that won't fix vampirism and if you're unlucky in FO3 GOTY you will get game cells that crash the game when you enter them. I did find the framerates good on both tho.

Bethesda forums when issues started = "Figures, leave it to Bethesda. And seriously, can we get some form of acknowledgement on the issue?! Seriously!"

Bethesda forums when patches were announced = "He never said it would fix the lag issue. I'm certain it won't. Once again, we've all been had by Bethesda."

Bethesda forums when Peter Hines says patch will address frame rate issue = "Don't be gullible, he's lying. It's not going to be fixed."

Are you guys ever happy?

They're a suspicious bunch still dealing with gamebreaking bugs from 5 years ago, I guess that's why they don't trust gamesas at the moment.

I had initial prOblems with fo3 and after the patches and some mods mine is running smooth. Sorry to hear it didn't resolve yours. Just because I have faith in the new patch doesn't mean I work for Bethesda haha I don't even know where their budding is.

So if you don't personally experience it it doesn't exist? Glad to see your flawless logic at work, and do you SERIOUSLY think bethesda had absolutely nothing to do with New Vegas? How naive, seems to me you don't know how much influence a publisher has over a developer, go talk to bioware. Look at what they've been churning out ever since EA came along.

It's the people that hate to be wrong, I've noticed. Well, not hate, more like scared to be wrong. They have a reputation to uphold.

Now, I'm not saying the issues will be fixed, however I'm not saying they won't either. I know the outcome just as much as anybody here.

People are going to look incredibly stupid when the outcome goes the other way, no matter which way that may be.

Everyone just needs to stop acting like you know, because you don't.

I am hoping it gets fixed, I think it will, it's just bad business if they don't and i'm sure they understand this.

I'm happy when I get a straight answer. Its not my fault I have enough common sense to not take vague replies by the PR guy as fact.

Have you been around long enough to see the usage of the word 'soon' with developers? Soon to many of them means several months or next year.

Also Hines never said they'd address the issue. Not once did they DIRECTLY acknowledge it. They said they'll 'improve'(yeah by what scale and how?) long term playtime but they didn't say they would fix the frame rate bug.

I know, I know. Soon is always not soon enough. This goes for everything, not just developers. It's an easy way to say, "We know there's an issue, we're on it."

Hell, I used to play an MMO called Face of Mankind... and Darkfall. I know all about the word, "soon." Trust me.

But people are choosing to believe him. Is it so bad? Will you lose sleep over it? It's their choice. If it turns out he's lying, let them bathe in their own shame and regret. However the same can be said for you and people like you. If it turns out the problem does get fixed, well, you'll end up looking like a complete idiot.

I'm not saying you are an idiot, so don't misconstrued that.

But then there's the people who keep referring to games such as Fallout 3 and FO:NV, and have apparently been screaming for Bethesda's heads since. Well, maybe it's just my logical thinking here, but if I touch something hot, I tend to not touch it again until it cools off.

its absolutely hilarious that you actually believe him. THE PATCH WON'T FIX ANYTHING. remember when they said that all the versions of the game are equal? lol look how that turned it. it wont work, all i'm saying. Come the week after thanks giving (useless american holiday) and the useless patch appears, i'll be here saying i told you so, while you'll be raging and crying because you actually believed a word bethesda said.
