RIP Paul Walker.

On another note, I do hope this is the end of the Fast and the Furious series of movies. Really, the milk has been squeezed out of that idea.

I'd never heard of him or Fast and Furious movies until my Granddaughter posted about his death on her facebook page. I'm always sad to hear of someone passing before their time or for that matter no matter their age. But there are actors whose death might touch me deeply despite not knowing them personally.

I believe they're finishing the seventh one as they are already a good ways into filming, but they are using it to commemorate Paul's death. I hope they wrap it up there and leave it. Even Paul commented in numerous interviews that it had been dragged on for too long.

Also, current reports indicate that there was a power steering fluid leak. A large burst of fluid was found around 100 or so feet from the crash sight and a trail of fluid leading to it. Also the lack of any skid marks points to a loss of steering control. Of course this doesn't excuse the speeding, but who doesn't speed every once and a while for the thrill of it? And it also explains how the fire spread so quickly to the front of the car, given it was a mid-engine. It was just a really unfortunate combination of factors.

New details into the case reveals that the actor's associate was behind the wheel at the time of the accident; and there's some indication that the accident was due to an illegal racing. They were speeding at about 80mph in a 30mph zone.

Not wanting to sound cold, but who was this guy to warrant all this attention (not merely here but everywhere)? Was FaF really that popular that people around the globe now mourn for the loss of him and pay respects for his family and friends (instead of, you know, any other car crash victim) - what was so special about Paul Walker?

He was famous. The guy in the car next to him wasn't, so nobody can pretend to care about him.

Huh. I didnt actually care for the movies, and knew nothing of the actor... Except that I saw the original movie on my first date ever. So this caught my attention. It feels strange.
