People with frame rate (lag) problems post your configuratio

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 10:22 am

I am trying to find out more about the lag problems reported by many people and I suggest that everybody post their configurations to see what they have in common (apart from the PS3 :P)

I have a fat 80GB PS3 bought 3 years ago but I upgraded my HDD with a 320GB.
I am 20 hours into the game and my save files do not surpass 4MB so far. My game runs very well and I never had a severe fps drop like the ones reported ( 5-10 fps, slideshow etc). The game is not smooth as butter but it's perfectly playable.

Maybe this has to do with HDD sizes or speed??

I have a 3 year old 120 GB PS3 Slim.

It's been very well maintained (I clean in out at least once a month)

It's actually right next to my window unit air conditioner, so for the majority of the year it has very cold air blowing on it.

And you guessed it, I'm having the same lag problems everyone else is.

no lag so far, ps3 fat 60gb (launch model) still use 60gb hardrive, have about 2gb free on the hard drive at the moment. 18 hours in, saves files are about 4.2mb

lag is very rare, mainly only occurs during the autosaves, and then only for about 1-2 seconds. frame rate fairly solid throughout.

I don't think it is a problem with the version of the console. I have a 3 month old, barely played 160gb console. My save files is almost 8mb, and I get lag after about an hour or two of playing.

Most definitely. I have a 1 year old 250gig PS3 slim and I get lag.

There are going to be issues, there are going to be graphical errors. It's a system with Risc based IBM processor cores in tandom over a botltlenecking board with limited vram that isn't uniifed.

It runs amazingly well concidering.

It's never goign to run as smooth as PC versions on either console. You want get HD texture packs becuase no matter how efficient the engine is with texture streaming, there isn't enough Vram nor System total ram o hold that.

Yet minor tweaks can hammer out some bugs.

Even with the required HD caching (because Blu-Ray is too slow for streaming that kind of data) there will be slow downs, and graphical issues, I'm amazed it runs half as good as it does on the PS3.

I have the old 80GB model, and to me it starts lagging only after several hours (i think 8 or so) of gameplay. It gets more common now though. think it's all about overheating, because When i turn my PS3 off for a couple of hours and restart, it's perfect ( for a few hours)

It has to do with the save file. Nothing to do with overheating. I just hit 6 Mb and its getting worse.... Guess I'll just finish the main quest and be done with it.

Three month old 160GB slim. Massive amount of HD space left. Deleted all unnecessary stuff / rented game installs today. Made no difference.

Deleted all unnecessary saves as well. Save size, dunno exactly but over 6mb.

Bad framerate, HORRIBLE stuttering after extended play time, especially in big cities during fights, im talking sometimes one frame per second.

Not happy.

think about it if you are signed in and update from a corrupted server couldnt it effect the game or just signed in at all and maybe they have some coding or somthing to track you while your online you are playing their game they can do almost what ever they want because doesnt it know when you need to update? and i have a freind no internet and the game works almost fine just very minor stuttering

Yes, but i still think that's really farfetched :D But i might try to disconnect from internet next time i'm playing and check if it helps, though i doubt it :)

Unfortunatly the time delay on this lagg is the key factor in proving its not directly hardware related. It is more in effect the gradual load on the HDD. The game is caching more and more without clearing up behind it to make room for the next load of stuff. Ontop of this, the further into the game you go, the more dependant the game is on your save file, So not only is it trying to stream the game off the HDD, but also access the save game for more and more data. The longer you play the bigger this collosal memory leak gets until your running out of both ram and Vram to handle the issue.

See above. Basically you turning it off, clears both the cache and the ram, starting it fresh to be leaked into again ;]

There is no server issues to deal with if you look at your connection light on the ps3, it never moves, there is no active connection between the game and the internet, even secretly. The people at gamestop will tell you anything to get the product and leave the store without questions.

I barley get lag, once in awhile I'll get a FPS drop, my save file is 5674kb or something, I started out with 2000kb or so maybe lower, I rarely get laggy controls or laggy movement, but if a lot of people are having it, I think it needs to be patched.

The problems are not consistent.
If the hardware's inability to run this software was to blame, all PS3's would have the problems!

If the hardware's inability to run the software was to blame, the game wouldn't have ran nearly flawlessly, at first, only to slowly deteriorate into an unplayable mess. The PS3's hardware can handle the demands of the game, graphically and processingly, but there's some seriously screwed up problem (memory leak?) screwing everything up.

Lag for me is a huge issue. I've played quite a bit the past few days, and at some points, it's starting to ruin the gameplay. I'll be in the woods, sneaking around, and all of a sudden, my framerate drops. Or I'll enter a city, it doesn't matter which one, and I'll sit there for 30 or so seconds just to let the system catch up. It svcks.

Not to mention the textures fail miserably sometimes. In the distance they look like smudges or smears, and on objects up close, they'll have a checker-board pixelization to them.

I've also seen trees/shrubs/whole buildings pop in and out of frame.

I understand the game isn't perfect, but let's hope they can patch these issues.

A game this epic shouldn't have to suffer to such inconveniences.

Launch PS3 - 20gbs
Playtime - 25 hours 18 minutes
Save File Size - 7.5mb

Very noticeable lag, frequently occurring, though I'm still enjoying the game.

Whenever I Fus Ro Dah with people around the whole thing stops! Pretty annoying but not the end of the world
