Can you only reset it once or can you do it as much as you like?

Yep, if I'm dumb enough not to catch all my old dumb mistakes for my first char in one go, I'll be able to fix the rest in another try! And then, it's also so easily avoidable/ignorable for the chars that I started later and didn't "mess up" as they went along (once I knew better how things work).

I know. Did you know this was a hot debate. They said it would make the game too casual and if you decided you didn't want a perk, their solution was to start over. Honestly, everyone overreacted during this debate, but I knew it would come out either in this DLC or Elder scrolls 6.

I was one of the big detractors, but it also won't affect my game at all.

Bethesda made it very, very easy to ignore this feature, so I'm good.

But I do like that they kept it in check by costing one Dragon Soul per Skill tree you clear out. That was a good addition IMO.

Trust me, you aren't the people I'm talking about. I don't recall you calling me a dirty casual for supporting it like a lot of other people.

I'd say if you chose a perk you decided you didn't want, just live with it. It's not like you don't get a lot of chances to choose as you go along.

Ah well. Bang goes just about the only choice with consequence in the entire game. I guess in TES 6 you'll just type in what number you want your skills to be at.

You only gain access to the perk reset after completing the main Dragonborn quest right? I want to respec my 2-h for 1-H + shield. considering you can use the console for souls, sounds like unlimited respecing to me.

Even if you clear one there isn't much you can do at lower levels*. Like trying to get all the perks from say your 100 smithing. if your a low level, where can you move all those perks? A skill at 29 or something won't have much room for all those perks

You still have to have the skill right? If your skill is 100 in One-Handed and only 30 in Two-Handed you can't just move all your perks from One-Handed to Two-Handed because you don't have the skill for the perks in Two-Handed right?

I don't see what the problem is. It's an in-universe explanation which is good enough for me. This is Herma-Mora we're talking about.

Atleast you cant respec your magica/health/stamina values.

So your still locked in the same "role" as you were. (A health & magicka heavy char cant go melee assasin or theif since he will lack the stamina nessesary, a mage wont be able to switch to fighter, etc).

Exactly. It actually makes sense and offers a nice gameplay reward if you wish to take it.

Pardon my ignorance, I have installed the DLC but i have not done a whole lot as far as new content goes yet because i am playing a new character.
How do you reset perks? Is there a NPC that does it?
I know you need a dragon soul of course.

The ability to reset perks is a reward for completeing the whole main quest of the DLC. Using one of the black books.

But that is the fun in starting over again and playing the game differently with a new character

The point is, that is fun for some, but not fun for others. I think that for once Bethesda did something very well done, giving the possibility to those that wish to change the perks. If you don't like it and prefer to restart, so be it. Why people complain so much is beyond me...

You're right, we can still have fun in starting new characters with their new personalities. But now we also have the option to continue with a favorite old character with his or her existing personality. Win-win now!
