Much less clowns or the pope :(
Well if you're going to have a phobia, I think the pope would be a good one to have, because how often is that going to be an issue? The odds aren't very good that you're going to be home alone and open the closet and suddenly OH NO THE POPE

Not phobia as such but I find clowns and china dolls a bit creepy. I dislike talking in front of people and I hate being in big cities, give me the countryside anyday

I said it on another thread, but I'm agoraphobic.

From Wikipedia: Agoraphobia is a condition where the sufferer becomes anxious in environments that are unfamiliar or where he or she perceives that they have little control. Triggers for this anxiety may include wide open spaces, crowds (social anxiety), or traveling (even short distances).
Same here, but mostly just in social situations. Then add a little paranoia to it, not a good mixture for my social life.

I suppose I have a (mild now) fear of God and time/change/death. I wouldn't say it qualifies as a phobia though

Otherwise, not much. Hell, I don't mind spiders in the least bit.
I love em. One thing that I can't help thinking that makes me uneasy though is spiders crawling in my heart/laying eggs in my stomach

I apologize for the image haha

Then add a little paranoia to it, not a good mixture for my social life.

I know the feeling. Somethin is up man... I can feel it >_>

Did you know that on occasions, spiders do crawl inside your mouth or up your nose, then they get crushed in the throat due to the swallowing reflex. I heard that on the average, you will eat eight spiders throughout your life in this manner. Mostly while you're asleep.

I always thought that was a myth. ew

I have dreams from time to time about lil tiny spiders crawling on my teeth and whatnot. Also one of the strangest/coolest symptoms of alcohol withdrawal (or possibly medication changes I'm not sure) was hallucinations of spiders. I kinda miss that haha

Yeah, it may very well just be a fabrication. But still kinda creepy, though.

And speaking of halucinations, I once had a very vivid, dream, where I was walking on bright red iron beams that floated in the air, and everytime I tired to jump to the next one, I'd fall. Was only six, so it scared the crap out of me.

If it counts, I have a constant fear of being betrayed by someone close. That's why I keep everything to myself, never let out secrets.

The last time I was irrationally fearful of something, I had just spent several hours on my computer writing code, so I was in this kinda hazy state, get up to go to the bathroom and there was http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-kCHASjV1j9g/Tl-tBc-Z4VI/AAAAAAAAABg/GIvgv8xU1qg/s1600/ucky-ucky-ucky1.jpg blocking my path.
Why did you have to post such a big and detailed picture of one of those! :cold: I used to live in an old victorian era house that was full of those. You literally couldn't go one week without seeing one.

As for phobias:

Arachnophobia: Luckily in my apartment I hardly ever see spiders, but when I used to live in my parents basemant (haha yeah very funny) I would see them all of the time, usually more than one at a time too.

Hemophobia: It's usually circumstantial, but sometimes the sight of blood or gore will make me overheat, start sweating, and get very light headed and weak.

Acrophobia: Heights just creep me out, though it's not something I come across very often so it doesn't bother me too much.

I also have a fear of deep water, but it's mixed with fascination of it as well.

I used to be ok with spiders, but I'm pretty much arachnophobic now. Whip tailed scorpions are even worse though, for the love of god don't google them.

Funny, I've never seen an American describe something as Victorian era before.

Coulrophobia - Fear of Clowns
Automatonophobia - Fear of ventriloquist dummies
Arachnophobia - Fear of Spiders

They're my only 3...I love snakes, I'm fine with heights and I'm not socially anxious or anything like that.

Someone once told me a quick way to find out how phobic you really are of something. If you look at a picture of what you're supposedly phobic of, and you show a physiological response to it (increased breathing, heart rate, sweaty palms etc) and get a bit anxious, then you're phobic. I've tested the theory and it's helped me sort my phobia's from things I don't like.

For instance, I hate wasps...I hate getting stung, if one comes my way I'll move and I used to say I was phobic...but looking at a picture of one, I'm fine, which (apparently) proves I'm not scared of the wasp itself, but of being stung. A picture of a spider, on the other hand, get's me all panicky which means that I'm not just scared of being bitten by one (I live in the UK, they're pretty safe over here) but that I'm phobic of the creature itself.

Just a little tip for sorting through your fears :)

Hmm... after googling it I didn't really realize it was only relevent to English history. I just called it that because that was the style of the architecture, gothic Victorian.

I think it is hilariously ironic that there is a phobia for the fear of phobias.

I have a fear of snakes.

It's called something-o-phobia I'm sure. Can't but bothered to look up a long latin name that probably has more letters in it than "fear of snakes".

Can't stand em. Can't look at a picture of them, the way to move creeps my out to no end, the their scales look creeps me out to no end. If there's a snake on the road I will slam on my breaks at the last second so the skidding tire tears it apart (just driving right over them doesn't do anything as it turns out). If I see a picture of one, or god forbid a video of one, I have to pull my legs up into my chair and check the ground every few minutes

I actually dream about that quite regularly, it's frightening. It's never an issue when I'm awake though.

Other than that I have a minor fear of heights, but that's rarely a problem.
