I was inspecting my physical map because I am not allowed to play until Friday

, and I found little x's around the map does anybody know what these are?

Be more specific.
Telling me: There's x's in the map is not very specific.
Edit: Oh, the ingame map! I was looking at my strategy guide map. It looked pretty physical to me. Yeah, I'm not on Skyrim right now.

Is there anything near them? Like really rare loot or something useful like a treasure map or something.

I noticed them as well.

I did happen to find a treasure chest with a bunch of gems and what not walking around in the most random place, along some mountains. I am going to check and see if the "x" is in the area I found that chest.

Because I think it's treasure "x's"

Dragon Shrines, which each contain a Word Wall

...however, I could be wrong. This is just an assumption based off of the location of the X's on the map and the general location of said guessed thing in the game where I found them. I apologize if this is too confusing, I'm a bit sleepy.

I went to one of these yesterday and it did not contain treasure but it did contain hints of

Wabbajack, the daedric artifact

and I am going back to look later to see if I can find it, I believe i have the right place, because it was near a mountain and next to a river.

You know what...? I think the X's represent Standing Stones. Everywhere I've found a Standing Stone so far, when I look on the map, there's an X where the location would be in-game.

They are dragon burial sites that you hear about in the game, I believe

I made this exact thread before and we came to the conclusion that they are Standing Stones.

The X marks location of standing stones, so no treasure.

Check the one south of Riverwood, there is one standing stone at all X location.

The random treasures you find, are treasure's marked by the treasure maps you can find around.

I'm staying with the idea that's probably treasure. It could be to motivate players to buy physical copies of the game instead of like using Steam to get it, that way the player gets the map and can get treasure. If it isn't then I'm completely puzzled.

I got Wabbajack from a quest in Solitude - a blind, crazy guy asks you to go to a wing of the Blue Palace, and you fall through into Sheogorath's realm, where you complete a quest using the Wabbajack, then get to keep it.
