Playing Dragonborn but not being Dragonborn

Will this expansion have content for non-Dragonborn characters or is Beth just assuming that everyone's character has done everything.

I'm probably going to retrieve all of the masks. They may be useful for certain situations.

You're a Dragonborn, Harry.
Spoiler
Even if you don't do the main quest, Ulfric still says at the end of the Civil War, Imperial Side, "Let the Dragonborn do it, it'll make a better story."

Spoiler
You can't beat the civil war quest line on either side without absorbing at least one dragon soul.

I hope you can visit the island at any point. But the dlc main quest can not be progressed without first learning that you are a dragonborn in Skyrim. I would prefer if it would change the dialog depending on whether on not you've defeated Alduin, but that may be asking too much.

I hope the main quest is a little bit dependant on the MQ so it's not potentially awkward like Tribunal. Uhh yeah apparently this broad was my wife?

Yes, but you can do so without being proclaimed by the Greybeards.
One dude calls you Dragonborn. And he sounded drunk.

Drunks probably spread word a lot faster than mountaintop recluses. Just sayin'.

By the way, when I'm on my phone instead of a computer, your username comes up as He[censored]mains It cracks me up every time I see it!

...A mod asked me permission to make changes to that. Still waiting for it to happen.

No, I know that- but it only makes sense if you're the DB as well.

Hell, the trailer even says:
" You didn't think you were the only one?"
Like you said, it only makes sense.

as much as this would make more sense and be better, Bethesda has never been known (skyrim im looking at you) for rooster blocking players because they play a certain kind of character. Especially not advertising saying "hey kids, beat MQ , mkay?"

Indeed, I expect it to play exactly like tribunal did for Morrowind, its a expansion that deals with things post-MQ, but can be started any time you want.

The entire game is based on the fact that you are the Dragonborn of prophesy, whether you know it or not. You only conclusively find out the meaning of this during the MQ, but the fact that you can absorb both dragon souls and word walls, means that you are Dragonborn, regardless.

So no, there won't be content for "non-Dragonborn" characters, as such characters don't exist.

I'd only be okay with this, if Solstheim has a lot of content in it not tied to the main quest of Dragonborn.

I hope you can atleast access the island without being blessed with lizard-blood. I have some (roleplayed) non-DB characters who needs some new weapons and armor..

A dragonborn is what he is regardless of his beliefs or desires, and fall into one of four categories:

1) Dragonborn who accept and acknowledge what they are, whether they use their gift for good or ill.
2) Dragonborn who reject the 'gift', rebelling against their destinies or having their fates determined by the powers that be.
3) Dragonborn who are in complete denial about their nature, delusional in their belief that they are normal.
4) Dragonborn who never even discover or confront their true nature.

All player characters in Skyrim fall into one of the above.
