Post » Tue Aug 17, 2010 5:24 am

Please, make a tool to able us to import maps or missions created in PC via usb or download. It will adds infinite replayability and Crysis 2 will sell more.

Thats why its coming to consoles buddy.
Its not because console gamers deserve better games.
Its because you people have to buy everything !!!!

Or to quote a famous man:

Doable for PS3 (à la Unreal Tournament 3) but I seriously doubt for Xbox 360.

this would be amazing, and it could really help Crysis 2 compete with all the other big shooters coming out in 2011

The OP is not asking for a Sandbox editor on console. He's asking for custom maps to be played on console.

Can you explain the logic in this comment? I can't see why the 360 couldn't play custom maps if the PS3 could. Both consoles have storage space and internet connectivity, so there's no obvious reason why one can and the other can't.

@Shinanigans
The PC editor has no limits (Such as the number of objects) That means Consoles may Suffer FPS drops if their are too many objects in a map, which means PC editors will have to limit their maps
And besides i do not think microsoft or sony is going to allow Custom made maps on their consoles
Im not trolling just stating teh facts ;p
And how would you port the maps to consoles without live-create (Developer only)

Although I doubt its gonna happen, it COULD work.

you'd make the maps on the PC (duh), and then export them to a USB drive and transfer them that way. However, like Kesuga7 said, the PC editor really doesn't have limits (basically the limit is your rig - not the engine), but the console limit is FAR lower than the PC limit (i've hit 27-MILLION polys in CE2, at about 20fps - no way a console will do that). Maybe Crytek would make a "console map" check box which put a cap on polys per frame or total objects, sort of like the budget system in halo's editor.

Whether you play on console or PC the fact remains the same - it's up to the level developer to optimise their map to suit a vast majority, whether it's a PC user with a cheap, old computer or a 360 user.

Give me 3 minutes in SB2 and i'll develop a level that will bring a $10,000 PC to it's knees. Give me 3 hours and i'll make that level run on a PSP.

That's a good point and will probably be the deal breaker.

On Unreal Tournament3 on ps3 i got over 100 pc maps so it could be done.
Lets face it the console community want there own editor!!!
Whats the point in putting limits on the pc, you end up whit a console editor...

I dont understand that statement when generally the Xbox360 is an easier machine to code for.

This is so not going to happen.

What is the only logical choice is to give the consolers access to the map editor to create their own maps (like they did with FarCry 2).

It would be an awesome thing to be able to download PC created maps and import them to consoles. This would extend the life of Crysis 2 for years to come.

This won't even take away from the downloadable DLC map packs that Crysis will make. Their level team rocks and i know many people that will download their map packs regardless of what the PC creators make.

Heck, maybe consoles will be able to also create their own levels?

i'm all for community maps on consoles as well as DLC.
Bring it!

@Shinanigans Wow, looks like you came around. If there is by some small chance, Neo and my rally for the editor made a difference, you are going to have to tell me. About live-create being a deal breaker, it seems like this is only confirmation that the technology to port the game already exist or at least most of it.

I always wanted this for Halo 3, the chance to edit a map on the PC and then stick it on the file share on Bungies website.

Perhaps gamesas will someday be updated to do this... hint hint.

@Enfadel - What have i come around from? :P

I'm not supporting/rallying for a console editor here or anywhere.

Hehe, sorry, i shouldn't have included "supporting" in that sentence. I'd be happy for consoles to receive an Editor, but i'm not "rallying/petitioning" for that to happen because it doesn't really suit me personally. I'd much rather just use the Editor on PC, if/when we get it. :)

Me2 =) Not going to happen any time soon for me i`m afried.
Glad to have your "support"

Im hoping we all get the same game content including the editor.
"No dumbing down for the consoles" is what i`m holding on too. lol

Or a DLC editor for all platforms.

Yeah, As sad as it is, I doubt MS would let this happen. The only way I could see this working is if it was for the PS3.

I hope they allow us to import the maps that we have made, but to make it fair for both our consumers and the developers and publisher, I think that we should only be allowed to import a limited number of maps.

Talon95 is right it is much easier to port from PC to Xbox 360 than from PC to PS3.
