Poignant Moments (Spoilers Probable)

Post » Wed Mar 30, 2011 6:13 am

Spoiler
Wait wait you can solve the quest peacefully and have them in the epilogue slides?
But whenever I freed Raul, they both (Tabitha and Rhonda) went ape[censored] on me and I had to kill them. :(

Spoiler
Repair Rhonda first. Then take Rhonda to Tabitha. Then they leave. They didn't hang around to attack me when I let Raul out.

Spoiler
I freed Raul after repairing Rhonda and bringing her to Tabitha. So, in order: Repair Rhonda, Meet Tabitha, Free Raul. If you meet Tabitha before repairing Rhonda, she's instantly hostile. Otherwise, she's extremely pleasant and grateful for what you've done. They walk off into the sunset, in search of adventure.

Def one of the most gut-wrenching moments involved walking out from Camp Forlorn Hope and running into the dismembered NCR soldiers scattered around.
Remembering that I was asked to do my best to bring back the dog tags of all dead NCR troopers and rangers I see I walk up to one dismembered corpse only to find... he wasn't a corpse.
Getting close to him the first thing he said was, "stay... away..."
It really didn't register in my head until I heard the click and beep of a mine getting triggered when my gamer reflexes kicked in and I jumped backwards saving my own butt but could only watch helplessly as the poor NCR trooper in front me had his head blown clean off by the frag mine that was placed right next to his head...

It reminded me of the stories my grandfather used to tell me of how during the Korean war the North Koreans and the Chinese would cut the arms and legs off PoWs, leave them near American and/or South Korean camps on the road and surround the place with landmines and have a sniper post up nearby. All my grandfather and his fellow soldiers could do was watch helplessly as the guy (usually a friend or a family member of someone) dies slowly from bleeding out. It is sickening to think about but putting something like this in a game adds a level of realism that at times feels all TOO real.

Playing as a Caesar's Legion/cannibal character, I put them out of their misery...and then proceeded to eat out their insides for sustenance.

Poignant!

There are several, but here are some;

1) Putting people out of their misery (two crucified folks at Cottonwood Cove, and the three NCR troopers on the landmines)
3) Reading the terminal at Black Mountain
4) The incidents at Vault 11
5) Lily and her grandchildren
6) The Bright Brotherhood or whatever it's called.
7) Boone's story. Though, it helped galvanize me in my determination to put a bullet in the head of every Legionary we've come across.

1. Chief Hanlon's audio speach before he shoots himself. When I listened to that I thought "Man, who is this actor?". I was imagining Kris Kristofferson for some reason. A lot of video game audio tends to be cheesy and over the top, but this one was in a whole different league, fit for a movie. Best voice acting I heard in a game.

2. Looting the Nipton city hall. Having heard about the lottery, and then reading the mayor's emails, I was just thinking, "You poor, stupid, greedy ba$tard". Chilling.

Edit: I just went to Fallout Wiki and found out Hanlon *is* voiced by Kristofferson! LOL, points for me, that was a fluke! Seriously though, wow, some high caliber talent for small-time npc's.
