I'm one of the few who voted no. Poker is such a dull and overused game. I'd rather see some dicebased games like Craps.

How in the world is Craps more exciting than poker?
I mean choose what you like but I don't understand that one lol.

In how many games have you played Craps? Compare the number then with ones in which you played poker. I guess it's just "for a change" thing.

And Craps is just one example. There's a world of dicegames out there.

We need poker, specifically Hold em. It just has way more strategy than the other games, or regular poker for that matter.

It's more simple to make games like blackjack, roulette and slots. They're a lot simpler than poker when you think about it.

I love Craps.... One of the most entertaining games I've ever played in a casino.

I think the reason they didn't add poker was just that game-wise
its a little harder to put in the game as opposed to blackjack, slots, and roulette

I would like to see poker in New Vegas but I'm not that dissapointed with it not being there either.

Sawyer answered why there wasn't poker in the caravan thread, something to do with AI. In black jack, slots, and roulette all you really need is some kind of number generator.

@ franchise mutant- I love craps too, hope they put it in a DLC and even poker.

Poker's the kind of game that only really works playing with other humans. I mean, bluffing's all about reading your opponent's face, body language and tone of voice.

Turning it into a series of skill checks wouldn't really have the same effect.

AI is hard to program for poker it seems, take RDR for example... the AI usually fold if you bid in a very high number of chips while in RL people would challenge that more often =/ (especially if you do it more than 2 or 3 times)

There's pleanty of AI poker games out there and no1 said i has to be perfect.

Bethesda should just cut a deal with "x" AI poker game developer. Slap that code on some NPCs and we've got Poker in New Vegas :)

The NPCs could also be restricted to just the poker table. I know it would be kinda lame but that would simplify things.

It could also be very complex and intersting like bringing a companion to the table... or some of the other things mentioned.

How cool would it be if you could cheat too ha ha

I am Betting in general it was not added because unless it is fixed the house (meaning the casino's) would not make a ton of money at... in general they just take ample cuts when hosting they are not directly playing you per say most of the time it is other gamblers you are trying to gut ....

Dang is it too late to change my name to aces and eights (sure would have fit in with the western theme though)

ahh well

Isn't is Ironic that you get poker chips as part of the CE?
And the main casino's icon is a Poker chip?

Technically they're casino chips, not poker chips. I know they call them poker chips in the CE description, but they're just the chips used in casinos. In a real casino, you have to exchange cash for the chips which you use at all table games, not just poker.

Craps would have made more sense in NV since it's a table game and it would have been easier to code.

Since the most popular poker games are either head to head or vs a group, they would have had to code opponent AI. It's a good way to learn the basic strategy but a huge part of poker is trying to "read" other players, and that's something the AI can't really duplicate.

They of course could have made some sort of "video poker" based on the standard 5 card draw rules, but that would break the 50's casino style a bit.

Really? Quoting Wikipedia? :nono: We don't have confirmation, but poker has not been seen or described in any video, preview, or interview given by the developers, and they have been pretty forth-coming about the casino games.

It ain't Vegas without poker. I don't care how they do it. Heck, let me buy into a tournament with a shotgun shell & let the winner get a box, 2nd get 15, and 3rd gets 10. It doesn't matter. Just put it in.

I has been confirmed there IS NOT poker.

I'm sure it's complicated to put in and everything but I'm sure everyone, even the people who DON'T want it, feels that a game centered on Vegas is just missing something if poker isn't available.

It should be included in the game on some level.

I agree with you there paragon.

This is also just a guess. But I don't think Poker was as big a deal in 1950s style vegas than today's vegas.

Very true, but then again the bombs droped in 2077, the world just went back to the 1950's theme. So there is still a possiblity that vegas was big on poker at this time. I say, add it in a dlc but at this time i really dont care. I can not complain about ANYTHING i have seen in F:NV. Maybe im too exicted for the game?

The M16 was designed in 1957.
