Pony Effect 3 Ending Discussion Thread #2 [SPOILERS]

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 3:02 pm

The Shadow Broker and the Arrival DLC are DLC that affect the overall plot of the game(What happened to Liara and why you are court marshalled on Earth at the beginning of the game), so there is evidence of Bioware already using DLC to"finish" the game.

They've done it once, they'll do it again.

With the ME3 ending.
Hell, it'd be better than nothing. Even if people wouldn't buy it at least we could get some closure in knowing the real ending.

"Building on their research, Exec Producer Casey Hudson and the team are hard at work on a number of game content initiatives that will help answer the questions, providing more clarity for those seeking further closure to their journey. You’ll hear more on this in April."

Am I being overly hopeful thinking this HAS to be 'post ending' DLC....?

We will continue to hold the line! This means nothing. It gives us some hope, but the wording of the DLC content is what makes me skeptical. Though I will say it adds some credence to the Indoctrination theory. Finally, we have a real hope of winning this movement. Just don't let up on them yet. A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vG4EyfXOTJ4 ending.

Edit
Freaking http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOe0Lr9OewE Stick with the original baby. I told you we are a bigger movement than people could imagine. We are like the Reapers, unstoppable except for the sacred ending dlc.

Hmmm. People have been squawking about Bioware not responding, ignoring whatever, and then they actually do say something and now we'll call it patronising. *sigh* This all goes into my "Why I both love and hate the internet" file.

Anyway, on a lighter note, this amused me. It may have been posted, but I did not read back much through the thread. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vG4EyfXOTJ4&feature=player_embedded

Also, regarding the possibility of the ending truly intended for Shepard to be indoctrinated- that would have been a pretty ballsy move then, but they didn't really execute it effectively at all.

More and more evidence piling up for the supposed "indoctrination theory". Something I was stunned at, and I can't believe I didn't see it...but wasn't Saren himself, obviously Indoctrinated, a big 'advocate' of Synthesis?
Yup.
Actually it's like that:

Synthesis option = What Saren always wanted to achieve = Shepard fought Saren thinking he was wrong.
Control option = What The Illusive Man wanted to achieve = Shepard killed The Illusive Man because he thought he was wrong.
Destroy option = What Shepard always wanted to achieve.

It should be a patch. That should also fix many of the bugs this game has.
Dialogue audio files not playing when they should,or Shepard walking on air...

I have not been calling for Bioware to do anything. If they've decided to make a (condescending) press release, though, they should at least check the grammar and spelling before they do so.

On second thought, I'm not sure there's anything they could do for ME3 that I wouldn't dislike. The ending to a series? You have to get that right the first time around.

Also, regarding the possibility of the ending truly intended for Shepard to be indoctrinated- that would have been a pretty ballsy move then, but they didn't really execute it effectively at all.

It certainly could have been handled better.

I have problems with the game, but bugginess is not one of them. It's the first time I'm hearing of bugs, actually.

As long as this DLC doesn't complete trash the end of the game and rather explains what happened in greater detail I'll be happy. Even if it's just a few more cut-scenes at the end, as long as I get some closure.

And that's all we want, closure. What they gave us at best could be considered a fake ending (if they go with the indoctrination theory) or at worst, one of the single most horrible endings to a game, completely opposite of what was promised.

Its almost a sure thing that EA will not pass up an opportunity to make money, it's now a question of how they will execute the DLC.

I've had a few missing audio files, yeah. Most of the times it's only noticable if you have subtitles on, but the most annoying missing line was the Illusive Man's response to me having saved the Reaper base, in the first conversation you have with him on Mars. It didn't even have subtitles.

Also it's possible to get your character stuck in the Normandy cockpit by standing in the wrong spot.

Even if they had a dlc, shep only really appers to wake up, in the destroy ending. Which pretty much funnels you down one path. Removing even more choice from an A,B or C ending.

The more I think about this, the more I belive they planned all this. Then I see people saying it would be the right thing, to sell them a better ending.
How much do you think this will contribute to the death of the industry ? Make a product crap on purpose, have fans begging for it to be fixed. You look like the good guy fixing it. AND you get money from the dlc. Damn Bioware/EA is crafty. Allthough gamers deserve this, becuase of how some people are acting, totally self inflicted.

I can't imagine they'll do it as a patch. That would be like admitting there's an 'error' they have to fix....

The reaction to an "alternative" ending being released as chargeable DLC is not likely to be positive. Can't speak for anyone else, but I know that personally it'd be the straw that breaks the camel's back as far as EA are concerned.

Saren wanted synthesis? Maybe it's just been awhile since I've played, but I don't remember anything like that. Saren aided the Reapers under the impression that they would allow some to live. His argument was that resistance would lead to total destruction, whereas assistance would result in non-total destruction (but still a whole lot of destruction). He was all about choosing what he saw as the lesser evil. That's a far cry from completely rewriting DNA so it's a new composite of organic and synthetic life.

Thats a good article, and the link to http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2012/03/17/former-bioware-designer-brent-knowles-on-day-one-dlc-and-the-mass-effect-of-public-relations/ on the page is also a good example of what bioware is doing.

Hmmm. People have been squawking about Bioware not responding, ignoring whatever, and then they actually do say something and now we'll call it patronising. *sigh* This all goes into my "Why I both love and hate the internet" file.

But they could post a thousand replies, none of them even the ones from Casey Hudson have actually said anything theres alot of text but theres so substance at all, its just PR responses the article didnt say anything at all, they are saying stuff without saying anything, but by releasing these comments it looks like they are paying attention and responding, whereas what they are doing is just releasing these hollow comments to try and convince people that they care in some way, they are basically doing this stalling for time waiting for the steam to run out of fans. All they needed to do was release one comment, and that was an honest, plain speaking comment on what their stance is, not lots of hot air.

Synthesis option only means that someone in BioWare didn't listen in his/her Biology lessons. YOU DON'T JUST COMBINE DNA between species. Especially life forms that don't have DNA.

It's a dire day indeed when you have to purchase a games end. What next? Buying it in chapters? 29.99 for the first 5 hours of gameplay? If this is something they've planned to charge for from the beginning I think there's a good case this whole movement might explode and try and do as much harm to them as a company can get. No mercy. Bioware is playing with a nuclear bomb over there.

I have seen a few of their articles now (/v/ really likes them).
Anyone else find it sad its better game journalism, than sites devoted to games ?
Meanwhile Jim sterling, is all calling us entitled. (not that I care, becuase I hate the guy)

For you maybe. Meawhile I see lots of people begging EA to let them throw their money at them.
I bet Mr Hudson (or whoever thought of this) is getting pats on the back, and maybe a promotion. Depending on how many people have no self respect and buy the dlc. (if your that desperate just wait until its on youtube, for the love of god. Dont give them money for this.)

Not really, now if it were A known biased news omapny like Fox doing better, more objective reporting, then yes I would be shocked. Forbes has, from what I understand, a good non-biased past when it comes to reporting.
