Ponytheus Trailer

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 7:14 pm

Can't say I'm especially excited. Ridley Scrott used to bring something interesting to the table. Alien, Blade Runner, Thelma and Louise are all awesome. Ever since he did Gladiator it's been one boring movie after another. The only one since then I really enjoyed was Matchstick Men.

Alien was awesome because there was mystery to it. You had no idea where the aliens had come from, what the space jockey even was, or how that ship ended up where it did. That was interesting. It's part of what made the atmosphere in Alien so great. Now they want to go back and explain everything. Such a boring idea.

You know, after this I'm hoping Ridley Scott decides to make a third Aliens movie. I'd really like to see what happens after they leave LV-246.

Actuall Ewoklord they are doing that but in a game format with the Colonial Marines I believe. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xulEWbAyv3k of the game where it shows the blown processing plant off in the distance.

With what has been seen in the trailer i've got a good feeling about this one Slyme. The problem is as audiences evolved so has the need for new takes on the movie industry. That's why some of the 80's films are so alluring to some is due to their uniqueness. Sadly that uniqueness doesn't = $$$ for box offices which is why you have Michael Bay films that use freaking 20 tons of explosives to make everything "Sparkly" or those god awful twilight films with "twinkling" vampires.

Yeah, I've heard about that. Looks pretty good, co-op with mics will be hilarious: non-stop Hudson quotes!

Heh heh

I'm just hoping for some juicy lore behind the space jockey. The Predators (Yuanja/Yuatja?) and the Aliens are some fav creatures of mine.

Yeah, I share your reservations. Ridley Scott hasn't made a good film since Black Hawk Down. It was a short trailer but from what I saw it didn't look scary at all. Compare it to the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjLamj-b0I8. Now that made it perfectly clear you'd need a change of underwear if you were going to watch the film.

Hopefully there's only one Xeno.

Edit: apparently there will be no Xeno's in Prometheus, I read.

After watching the latest trailer it looks like there might be at least a face hugger in there. This movie looks amazing I'm excited for it.

Ya i'm a bit disappointed after seeing that it's not going to involve the xenomorphs, but it is good to see that it will involve the space jockeys. Truthfully i'm finding it bitter sweet and I hope my enthusiasm will be rewarded.

You may want to know that they have Damon Lindelof on board, from LOST. In LOST, whatever mysteries they revealed, only caused more mysteries. The thing is, I personally hated it.

PS. I agree on the boring movies he has made and Matchstick Men was really good. Though, Kingdom of Heaven Director's Cut gets lots of praise which I haven't seen yet. Anyways, I am super excited.

Now they want to go back and explain everything. Such a boring idea.

Me in a nutshell.

I'd really like to be excited for the movie, but Ridley Scott is far from infallible, and the way Hollywood/big budget movies are these days (they all look the same...)....the long 2.5 minute 2012 trailer I've seen recently hasn't done much for my interest level so I'll be waiting for it to come on HD On-Demand to my big TV instead. Unless the reviews and fan notes are so gushy and all-encompassing that it changes my mind.

The blonde guy in the trailer is kinda hot, tho.

(edit:the forum editor isn't taking my post formatting for some reason...work, darn you)

Looks so so good.

If you haven't already, watch both the US and UK trailers. They are pretty different and have quite a lot of different footage in them. In fact they look like they're advertising two different films. The UK one comes across as a thriller mystery where the US trailer leads like a horror action. Was quite interesting to see what footage featured in each actually...

I thought it was a alien movie with face huggers.

But after reading up on it, I think its doing its own thing.

The trailer makes me want to go see it, thats for sure.

It would be hilarious if Ridley Scott threw in one of the "Predators". Suddenly a million fans cried out in terror.

I'm hoping it's going to be as good as it looks. I enjoy the odd numbered films in the sequence more than the evens so with Alien, Alien 3 then Prometheus I hope that pattern will continue.

The only way they could balls it up would be to go. "Yeah... so we had this idea of having this kid at the end. They ask the main character what their favourite colour is, then there's some space magic!"

Just waiting to see a backlash if as is likely it doesn't feature Giger's Alien. It'll be interesting to not have them in it.

Looks like it can be quite good and do justice to the old Alien franchise. I don't think it's going to be the burst out your chest alien type, more like alien genes infecting your blood and controlling you, slowing killing you that kind of horror. He could be introducing a new form of alien attack, or he could be linking together relationship between predator and alien in a more awesome way.
