Ponytheus Trailer

If there were ever a movie that would make me go to a theater this is it. I had been reading little tales/stories all over the internet about this being possible. The best hope I saw was that a script was in the works being submitted to fox but kind of gave up after hearing nothing more. It will be a REAL treat that they got Ridley Scott to work on it who did the first original Alien movie. Cannot wait to see this film in the theaters seeing how Scott puts his own twist on the franchise going somewhat before the crew of the Nostromo.

Things are still hushed though as I read a blurb on wiki stating Scott swore the cast to secrecy even having them sign confidentiality agreements.

Sounds neat, looks like we're going to find out about the space ship aliens who had the xenomorphs.

Hmm. Doesn't look like my kind of film really. I'd be happy to watch it, but I don't think I'm interested enough to go and see it in the cinema.

Yup the "Space Jockeys" or "Jockeys" as some call them are supposed to be the original creators of the xenomorphs. Read different stories explaining their origins which really convoluted the whole thing for me. Only story that I read that is somewhat acceptable deals with the jockeys waging war between themselves creating the Xenomorphs in the process. The ship the nostromo found had landed on a hostile world and the jockey inside died. There is another story stating how the Jockeys actually were waging war against the Xenomorphs not being created by the jockeys with one landing on the world the crew of the nostromo found.

Either way I really hope to see some good lore behind things.

Looks good. Looks like the first Alien film I can consider 'canon' since Aliens. I take it they send a research team to LV 427 to research some ancient lost civilization, or the Jockeys, and come across some Xenos. Seems like a pretty good premise.

Some Observations:

1. The trailer itself is very Alien trailer-esque.

2. In the beginning, it sounds like Shaw (a character in Prometheus) saying: "You don't understand." -static- "I was wrong. We were so wrong." *small sobs* "I'm so sorry."

3. Huge humanoid head with many pedestals around it (The heads are obviously what they are referring to when the synopsis mentions 'finding our beginnings, etc). Also the pedestals seem perfect for a Xeno Egg, eh?

4. See the Crew examining a Jockey head

5. The blue hologram 'space map' room is also the Jockey pilot room seen later in the trailer and in the original Alien movie.

6. We see the Jockey ship fall from the sky and land in the same type of position as seen in Alien

That room with all the pedestals very much reminds me of the room in the original where John Hurt gets face-hugged. At first I thought they were the same, but then I realized the pedestals were much too small to be eggs.

WOW is this for real? Looks amazing!

I was just a kid when Alien first came to HBO. Was over at a friends house when his mother said we should watch something on TV.....she was a bit shocked and almost turned it off.

The opening scene I immediately said, "Facehugger?" then as I watched I thought to myself..."Ohh, look a rip-off of Alien/s." Then when I came back to the thread I only realized it was yet another Alien movie....meh...if its done in the sense of of the original or second movie then I may go see it.

It's not an aliens movie though. Not really, just happens to be in the continuity. I don't know if we should go in expecting horror or action.

I heard about this a while ago, and it was said to be a prequel to Alien. Then i read that the story was changed because one of the Alien creators didn't want any part in it. So now it's loosely based around the Alien story, but at the same time has nothing to do with them.

Well then, based off of that it'll be a "on TV" thing for me.

From what I understand this isn't a direct prequel or a sequel to the movie alien but exists within that same universe. It's mostly made to discover the origin of the Xenomorph species and what the "Space Jockeys" are along with why they have the xenomorph/alien creatures. This is one of the few movies that I am really intrigued to see and might break my rule of never going to a theater.

Yeah, its officially based in the Aliens universe, but it won't feature the Xenomorph. There was some confusion for a bit because the studio wanted to market it as an Alien film because its a known brand, and so it was not going to be within the Alien universe for a bit, but eventually Ridley Scott got his way and it is in the Alien universe, but its not an Alien film.

My problem with watching scary movies in the cinema is the people that scream. When I get a fright via a movie, I do a silent jump-in-my-seat thing. But I don't [censored] scream like a [censored].

Not recommended, in this case it'd be more likely that the ALIAN eats you. :P

You know, after this I'm hoping Ridley Scott decides to make a third Aliens movie. I'd really like to see what happens after they leave LV-246.
