PonyTube's new channel layout

Post » Mon May 14, 2012 5:44 pm

You know, everything is getting dumbed down these days.

In this case it's the exact opposite. As was previously said, everything you needed to know was displayed conveniently on the channel page, no extra searching necessary. Now you have to go through several pages to reach someone's playlists, uploads, and even channel comments. It's overcomplicated, if anything. All this "update" did was make it a really tedious process to find information that was all shown on one page before. And that's just my problem with the design; don't get me started on the lack of channel customization.

I've had my channel for five years and six days and its still my favourite site on the internet, the YouTube people would really have to put the metaphorical poker in my channels ass before I delete it.

i don't know what they've done since reconfiguring how related videos work but it has seriously borked up uploading.

So your having trouble to? I can upload them fine, but I can't do any editing until after the video is uploaded, as the features don't come up when I start uploading.

and now related videos are broken :/

honestly, i don't know why they changed it. "Re:" people were on were not that annoying considering you can ignore them. But now all i get is recomendations for one channels videos, for none of which i have watched, which have 0 to do with what i was watching.

Looks like YouTube just implemented an actually useful feature.

Instead of that @ reply thing in the comments it shows who's being replied to next to the timestamp, and even gives you a little link to show that post. I dunno why it took them so long to fix something so basic though... (although I could have sworn they had a better thread layout years ago)

I was fully aware of that, but I'll take any excuse to rant about something that svcks.

I don't like it, but don't really care.

Why they and social networking sites have to change formats so often is a mystery. Even more mysterious, it never ever adds functionality or looks better. I think it's site designers having to justify their jobs.

About damn time. So many times you'd see a top comment being a reply to another and it would be a pain to look up the original comment.

I like the new layout, it has some advantages over the old one. People just don't like change, they'll get used to it. I didn't like this new forum layout either, but now I think it's nice.

Is that "see the comment" button a new thing or have I just never noticed it before? I was thinking the other day that they must have received a billion messages about that and was wondering when they would do it.. I'm glad they did.

Yes, that feature is very welcome. I'm tired of reading through all the comments looking for the original comment the top-commenter responded too. :P

They should castrate the guy who made those changes. It was perfect before, but they ruined it. :nope:
