[RELZ] Arwen's NV Realism Tweaks [thread #5]

Post » Sat Oct 09, 2010 12:09 am

I will certainly have to do something with these dynamite and mines i found, good idea. And ive noticed that weapons drop quickly now indeed. I will try to shoot them in their arms, but do you use VATS for that or just normal aiming (coz thats tough).
I also turned off the fatigue damage from gunshots because woah those guys shoot FAST and youll be down on the ground before you can shoot 3 times. And ive killed most easier enemies, lol. I even went into a dungeon from one of the mods i use (A World of Pain) to kill some more geckos, and i bought extra ammo from the ammo&guns shop that this mod adds to get some extra ammo and experience, because i seem to be low on everything - ammo & food.

I'm using http://www.newvegasnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=35823 (and the same mod for FO3), with a high AP consumption rate (so that it doesn't feel like a cheat). I don't like using VATS because it can leave you vulnerable but real time aiming is very tough because everything happens so fast. So Bullet Time allows you to aim more carefully in real time.

Also thanks for the link to iHud mooguy, that sounds like something I'd want to use.

iHud is great. i use the PN bullet time. it has high enough AP cost with activation delay and vision blurring so it doesnt feel like a cheat. used to use VATS for grenades only because i found it hard to make the grenade go where i wanted to but that was some time ago. i also recommend the VATS perks no more mod to go with bullet time.

btw, i hate to ask again but how many skill points do you guys get at level up? :P

When does the doctor skill kick in and improve the stim and powder healing?

I raised it from 10 to 25 in my first 2 levelups, but still healing this lousy 30hp

are there other sources of healing besides visiting the doc?

You can heal by eating food (get survival skill!), drinking sarsaparilla (works really well and theres tons in Goodsprings, + they only cost 2 caps if they like you, and you get 1 back for opening the bottle), drinking from unlimited purified water sources.

What i was wondering is how you heal limbs when theyre not crippled. I can use stimpacks on them and foods or drinks dont work either. Can i only heal limbs with Doctors' bags and visiting the doctor? Or does sleeping heal limbs too?

that option will eventually be unavailable with the coming ART modules which will remove food healing. I've removed it from my game myself. im curious about the effect of medicine and survival on healing items (not food) too as ive yet to seem my healing powders increase in potency as well.

my game has a bug that makes me not heal when sleeping or even when going to the doc (i had to fix it by script) so i dont know how it acts in vanilla. but i think in hardcoe (the game mode, not the module) only Doc's bags and doctors can heal broken limbs.

btw, Blackice, i was referring to the bullet time built into Project Nevada.

EDIT: tested using console and stim healing DOES increase with medicine. strangely though, so does my healing powder potency.

Ahh Project Nevada

But what about limbs that are not broken, but just damaged?

To heal limbs in hardcoe you need to sleep in owned bed, use doctors bags or hydra, or visit a doctor.

It turns out that the points that you receive when you level up are hard coded into the game.
Changing the game settings values for fAVDSkillLuckBonusMult, iLevelUpSkillPointsBase, and iLevelUpSkillPointsInterval have no effect at all.

I'm not sure what the formula is now, but I'm receiving 13 points at level up [I have 6 INT & 4 Luck]
My initial skill point reductions work fine . . . it is just the level up points that appear to be hard coded.
My intent was to reduce this to 7 points, so this is messing up my balance a bit . . . I'm probably going to reset the tag skill multiplier back to 1, since that just results in even more skill points. I'm still messing with this.

My Med-Tec module will be where I'll be changing ingestibles and healing (in expanding injuries and treatment) . . . but that module is a ways off yet.

Im not healing thru eating or drinking stuff (check out my sig  , but load it before arwen's if you wanna try it)

I tried to cheat medicine at 100 too, now stims heals 3x30 hp. so it seams there only 3 stimpack modi, 1x30 hp, 2x 30 (but at what point? ) and the 3x30 healing. Maybe this could be a bit more variable :lightbulb:

My day didn't turn out very well, I had a minor medical emergency, which took up most of my afternoon. I'm ok now, but not really able to amount to much, due to some rather strong pain medication.
Sorry for the delay . . . I really thought this update was easily going to be ready by early afternoon . . . but sometimes life just has its own agenda.
Version 1.8 is very nearly done . . . The last thing are my chance modifiers for the weapon. So if I'm doing better tomorrow, I'll see if I can finish it up.

This seems like the biggest mod for NV out there, is that so?

Indeed, your health is more important than a mod update!

Also, time for a new thread! :sorcerer:
