Very Hard with hardcoe

Post » Thu Dec 09, 2010 9:38 pm

I'm just doing Normal with hardcoe. I have no idea what their difficulty level is going to be like. I may even intentionally have a subpar build.

Normal + hardcoe.

Bullet Sponge enemies = Boring + XP Bonus on Hard/Very Hard = too fast progression = boring.

Very hard is silly, it just makes everything take longer to kill... Unless NV handles it differently, which I doubt. I'll use normal+hardcoe, and later on probably some mods that make the game more difficult.

Depends on the enemies this time around I spose. Given the hardcoe option, I think a player on VH will be avoiding more enemies than attacking them so the extra XP wouldn't be a bonus so much as a balance, can't say for sure if sliding to VH will increase enemy DR and Damage, or even XP rewarded. Or if it'll increase spawns, or generate more powerful enemies in relation to the player's level. It ain't Fallout 3. Oblivion have likely changed what FO3 deemed difficult me thinks.

Wait and see, but I'm starting on Normal/hardcoe too. :)

GL on VH hardcoe at the starting lvls.. try not to eat your mouse/controller XD

I'll try. I don't usually get too angry over games. At least single player. Multi-player stresses the hell out of me. Not because I'm bad just because of other players glitching or hacking. I digress. Back to what I was saying I think that I may get frustrated, but not to the point where I break something.

very hard + hardcoe proves nothing except that you have patience to repeat through save/load over and over and over and over again. Beating the game like that is certainly possible if you like to reload a lot. To me, that's just not fun when I have to empty 2 clips into someone's face and load a game if I felt like my ammo usage was a bit on the wasteful side.

1st run through will be Normal+HC, but I'll likely do VH+HC eventually.

I usually play games on the hardest difficulty but FO3 used a horrid difficulty scaling formula so I'll wait and see. I like it when I can one shot enemies and when they can one shot me. I don't like it when I have to shoot them in the face five times with the most powerful sniper rifle in the game only to see them continue running towards me with a baseball bat.

This is how I prefer games difficulty to be. I like the added realism it has. It immerses me in the game that much more. Sadly I don't think F:NV will be this way, but I still am looking forward to it on VH+H.

I was just wondering, in the final day before Fallout: New Vegas releases, will anybody else be exploring the wastes on very hard with hardcoe mode on? I will be, and I am super excited for it. :gun:

Typically I don't find 'uber frustrating' to actually enhance the difficulty of most games. I've never played Oblivion or FO3 with any of the major overhaul mods.

That said, I am intrigued a bit by hardcoe Mode. Maybe an Easy setting on hardcoe Mode, and bump it up to normal later on. We'll see. ;)

Ill go for Normal + hardcoe. I'll put it to hard if I want a little more challenge but if ''Higher Difficulty = Bullet Sponge Enemies'' than I'll say bye bye to Hard and Very Hard. Adding more enemies would be a better way of scaling difficulty. Also don't make them have more health, just make them kill you faster, as fast as you can kill them to the extreme, just common sense.

I had a mod that made the enemies kill you faster, darn was it addicting; planning battle tactics before doing a raid on a place or trying to reach a location, then seeing if my plan failed what alternatives I had available (Mining the road, escape routes.) When I actually use my brain to defeat an opponent makes me enjoy the game 100x more.

I'll be playing on hardcoe. Though I'm apprehensive when it comes to playing on very hard if it turns out to just be a slider for the absorbative power of the bullet sponge.

First playthough is going to be hardcoe however I have not yet decided on hard or very hard given that in Fall Out 3 very hard only made enemies into damage sponges. If thats not the case and you just die faster while not necessarily turning enemies into bullet sponges then I will play on hardcoe on VH.

I actually wish you leveled up slower on very hard... Would make the harder...

Difficulty doesn't effect the exp you get on FNV :cookie:

I think Normal + hardcoe to see how it plays out. After a while maybe only then increase the difficulty to Hard. I though Hard setting on F3 was quite tough actually, especially at the early levels when armour/skills/weapons are weak. Its not so much the toughness of the enemies, but rather the numbers of them. When ammo is scarce those extra two or three raiders/ghouls/super mutants can pose quite a challenge.

Normal + hardcoe for me, I don't need artificially inflated difficulty to enjoy a game.

If I decide I want added challenge I will use the rules I made for FO3 play with suitable modification(s) for the setting (i.e. some of it may not be needed/may not be enough).
