Very Hard with hardcoe

Post » Thu Dec 09, 2010 12:37 pm

I was just wondering, in the final day before Fallout: New Vegas releases, will anybody else be exploring the wastes on very hard with hardcoe mode on? I will be, and I am super excited for it. :gun:

Hello no.

If it is anything like Fallout 3, then Very Hard=bullet sponge enemies who can take multiple shotgun rounds to the head and deal a crapload of damage. With hardcoe, you are going to have to use ammo tactically. I do not want to waste all my ammo on one encounter.

This pretty much sums it up for me. The difficulty slider just makes creeps do more damage and you do less. Sadly, it'd be nice if they got smarter and craftier, instead of cheesier.

Yeah the whole bullet sponging is why i don't like Bethesda games difficulty. If your damage remained the same and enemy damage was increase i probably wouldn't mind. I just don't see the game being harder or more fun by having to put multiple shotgun blasts to an unarmed enemies head to kill them.

I see we have another brave soul. Haha. Are you ready for 200% more damage from enemies and 50% less against them? This is going to be a loooong playthrough. Awesome. :fallout:

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Everyone is entitled to play the game they want to play. It's about having fun no matter how you choose to. Me? I like dying alot. Lol. I just like a challenge.

normal + hardcoe
with gamescale adustment and modding of perks/traits
(converting perks to traits that should have been traits to begin with and changing effects slightly to create the tradeoff traits have)
(adding missing perks/traits from previous games)
(fixing perks - lifegiver? 30 health? im more in favor of FO1/2 version of it)
(adding in own level cap work-a-round scripts- which actually might include nerfing the health calculations if FO3 is anything to go by)

idk if i agree with hardcoe ammo weight... but i think i'll let that be

oh,... and fumed for hours at how SPECIAL is capped at 10
and fume even more over skill caps, lol

soo yea... i am starting my very first character, already game modded
- normal, so enemies arnt too tough
- hardcoe for realism/immersion
- and modded health calculations so IM not too tough

Eh, i would rather do it on normal and hardcoe. I find normal is the sweet spot. I don't like being frustrated when playing games and i dont know how the difficulty settings will be this time around. I may change it up on a later playthrough.

So is hardcoe mode a mod or a level of difficulty in this? Also i heard something about having to drink water at certain times so you don't die of dehydration is that true? or is it only in a mod or hardcoe mode? Thanks.

hardcoe mode is a mode that you can choose to augment with any difficulty level. It adds ammo weight, dehydration, starvation and sleep depravation. Stimpacks and Radaway take time to heal and take away Rads. Crippled limbs also can only be healed by a doctor or by you, if you have a doctors bag.

hardcoe is seperate from difficulty settings it can be toggled on and off at any time. On hardcoe ammo has weight, you must drink, eat and sleep. Companions can die and stimpaks and radaway heal over time instead of instantly. Limbs that are utterly destroyed can only be healed by doctors or using a doctors bag.

Edit: Got ninjaed by ZombifiedRacoon.

You have to Eat/Sleep/Drink to survive
Sleeping in beds no longer restores life
Healing items heal over-time
Crippled limbs cannot be mended with stimpacks
Radiation decreasing items decrease radiation over-time
Ammo has weight

Did I forget anything?

Edit: :ninja: ninjaed + the companion stuff above.
