In my opinion the game is great on the PS3. You have nothing to fear.
It was Bethesda's bad choise not to promote it for the PS3.

Dude Skyrim will in fact have a few glitches, but some of them wont be bad, and plus you probley will be able to look past all of them because the game is awsome. Already a few major bugs have been caught, so there is really nothing to fear.

Elder Scrolls series never had any game breaking bugs. I didn't even notice any bug ever in Elder Scrolls... I played Morrowind and Oblivion and enjoyed them really much.

A friend of mine told me that Bethesda games are usually unfinished and full of bugs when they launch and that I should wait 3-6 months before buying it. Also, we saw almost no gameplay footage of the PS3 version (the version I want to buy) and the fact that the game will have a day one patch is a little bit scary... Also does the game still have that auto-leveling for enemies/dungeons that Oblivion had? I didn't like this since there was no way to farm outside a dungeon just to come back and wipe it easily.

You should be pleased that there is a day one patch, not scared of it. I can't tell you how many of the games that I own on steam, as well as my physical collection of games (and there's a lot of them, something like 260 games on steam alone, and more than that in my physical collection) never even got a patch to fix the bugs.

So tuck your fears away and be happy if there turns out to be a day one patch.

Then again, I'm not sure how PS3 deals with patches, but from what I've heard you guys have seen some massive patches, if so then I guess it's all good. With PC's and patches, they're something we look forward to, not fear, since they will make our games better (usually but not always obviously)

The bugs in these games can be bad at first but when I got Fallout 3 and Oblivion when they first came out it was pretty much smooth sailing for me. Just remember that skyrim is a big game and like fallout 3 oblivion morrowind and New vegas it will have bugs most won't be bad some will.
Don't sweat about it.

The last game i played had a day 1 patch, Gears of War 3. That isn't something new that happens nor is it a sign of anything bad. Its actually good because it means the developer is actively testing their game all the way through and during certification. Calm down.

I'm going to wait till my mom tells me it's okay to buy Skyrim because I am unable to make sound decisions on my own and lack the ability to judge whether something is worth my money or not.

Spoiler

Ok, first of all, how is waiting 3-6 months going to get rid of the bugs?
Second of all Oblivion had bugs, but I saw so few that never affected my gameplay (The only bug was freezing but thats only happened once of twice for the years I've had it).
The day one patch is a good thing...
And finally. The game does not have leveling like Oblivion... An example of this is...
Spoiler
Footage of a leaked video showed a giant one hit killing the player. Another is when a Troll svcker punches the player knocking him out in about 4 or 5 hits.
Oh, and tell your friend... He does not know what he is talking about...
