Lol. I thought this thread would be about being scared of the game itself. LIke literally, being scared of the monsters in Skyrim. :whistling: the dragons  Never mind.

I did have my first Skyrim anxiety dream last night, even though the game's not out yet. I'm sure I'll have a few more after 11/11/11.

ON-topic: I've never bought a Day 1 release game ever from Bethesda, but I don't care if there are bugs and whatnot. I'm just too eager to explore new territory.

I never buy games the day they come out...unless they are bethesda. (and one exception for bioshock 2, I was in between games)

I totally see as valid the idea to wait with a bethesda game when it might be cheaper and it will have patches. that is what I did with witcher 2.

that being said, there is no way I would wait a millisecond longer than needed to dive into the ooeey gooey delish that will be skyrim. why fear bugs? I play a moddable version. hint--not a console.

That kinda post really does nothing for the game. Its kinda like F* You everyone else that cant get mods. So faults exist that shouldn't what does someone who paid for it do? Dont say buy a PC im so f'in tired of that answer. ''A Modder will fix it''.

same here... PS3 games by Beth usually freeze every 15-20 minutes.

Wha? Really? I've played some marathon sessions of Oblivon over these past 3 years on the PS3, I'd say my game freezes up maybe every 15 to 20 days, not minutes. Guess I'm lucky.

My opinion: 1. Your friend is right. There will be bugs and the game will be better if you can wait a year or two - your hardware will/might be better, and you can get the goty with all the dlc, patches etc included for a much lower price. If you're on pc you can also help yourself to the thousands of mods that will be out by then.

counter argument:
If you're a regular on these boards the game will be revealed even if you try to avoid it.
In my experience, the bugs have usually been minor and put-up-withable until a patch comes out. Some clipping here and there or a broken texture there. Since Daggerfall I know of no game ending bugs that have been shipped on release.
2. If you're like me, the anticipation will destroy you.

If you're busy, don't get the game. It will svck up your life.

I got way too excited for this game way too soon and now i don't even care. I'm on the forum because it's just habit now.

You sir are crazy as hell. i was excited when I first heard skyrims going to be released and im MORE excited now. Clearly you havn't been keeping up with the game. Go look at everything that is in this game and if you aren't excited then you don't like games. lol.

And what are you talking about with beth ps3 games? This is literally the first beth game I'll be getting for PC (Now that I have a really nice one). I'v never had a single issue playing oblivion or fallout 3 on my ps3. Hundreds of hours in it too. Unlike other games where I only spend 5 hours clearing the campaign and still notice bugs.

I don't typically buy games on release but some games are worth the risk. There will be bugs, but typically my experience with Beth hasn't been that bad on that issue. However, if you're unsure of whether it's a game for you, there's no harm in waiting for initial reviews/player reactions first.

But me....I have the money to blow, and I did. :)

A friend of mine told me that Bethesda games are usually unfinished and full of bugs when they launch and that I should wait 3-6 months before buying it. Also, we saw almost no gameplay footage of the PS3 version (the version I want to buy) and the fact that the game will have a day one patch is a little bit scary... Also does the game still have that auto-leveling for enemies/dungeons that Oblivion had? I didn't like this since there was no way to farm outside a dungeon just to come back and wipe it easily.

Yes usually bethesda games are problematicon day one. Unfortunatly this has become industry tendency. You can perfectly wait 3 month before buying. Or buy it now and if you dont like it, come back to it in 3 to 6 month.
I m sad for you that you have decided to go console way.
The game will have auto leveling but not as [censored] as Horriblivion (frankly thats not difficult at all) but if bethesda hasn t eaten dung during 3 years it wont slap you in the face and make you feel [censored] and reaped this time.
Stop being a wussy and go explore many dungeons instead of farming the same cow, this ain t WOW you know.

you're kidding right?I'm actually surprised some people find a day 1 patch worrying,It would make sense if they DIDN'T had patches and instead people get worried... Oh well. As for your friend he probably never played a Bethesda game to be honest if he has this kind of issues unless he bought a PC game and had issues already. As for games being finished, well point me a game that's perfect those days, with not even a single bug, then we'll talk.Oh and yeah don't buy the game if you're busy, else you will have BIG issues.Bethesda games are known to take a while to complete/explorer and find everything.

Bugs are actually daedra that are trying to stop the player from completing his/her goal.

Patches are actually blessings from the nine divine :)

Low texture bug is actually a common daedra illusion spell.

The daedra will try to find other ways to stop you and yes they are capable of affecting your console itself.

They have destruction magic such as frost spells so powerfully that it will actually freeze your game. But you must push foward. Do not let the daedra win.

Put your faith in the nine!!!!!

A game as big as Skyrim is bound to have bugs, the makers can't check every single little thing. However I highly doubt it will in any way take away from the gaming experience.

On 11-11-11 we will recieve the blessings of akatosh. Will it be enough to stop all of the daedra trickery???

Of course not for the daedra can never be permanently killed.

We are the verge of all out war. Dragons have returned and of course the [censored] daedra will try to use their power and discourage you!!

But u must push forward!!

Bethesda has earned their good reputation with me. Their games have been excellent and they've fixed major bugs in a timely manner, so I would have no problems buying any of their Fallout/Elder Scrolls games without seeing any kind of preview or demo.

Now, UbiSoft on the other hand . . . I'll never trust them again after Far Cry 2.

There have been reviews and none of them have been bad so there goes the its going to be buggy

The leveling scaling is more like fallout then oblivion so there goes that problem

Dont wait.

By the time you play in 6 months, it will be old hat, the forums will be silent, all the easter eggs found, these kind of games are best played right from day 1

Bugs are an unpredictable but, in my opinion, forgiveable aspect of games these days, especially with sandbox games like GTA and the Elder Scrolls series. Having been a game tester in the past I know how hard it is to test EVERY aspect of a game, every possible route to an objective, every action and reaction to performing a task, every weapon, every enemy encounter etc. It is impossible to foresee and fix every game bug by day one of a game's release. Personally I am thankful for the internet in these circumstances as games can now be patched easily. Back in the 80s and 90s bugs in games were permanent and we lived with it!

I have played Fallout 3, New Vegas and Oblivion and have only ever come across one minor graphical glitch in each game and this hasn't bothered me in the slightest. Personally I found them quite funny but the level of immersion was still there for me and I enjoyed every moment without a single complaint.

I feel that, if a bug actually prevents the player from progressing in the game, then complaints should be raised about the competency of the testing team in that company. Minor bugs, however, should not be complained about but considered a forgiveable aspect of a game that a company has worked hard on for 3+ years to give the player an unforgettable and enjoyable experience

These are only games, after all and we should enjoy every moment!

Get it early or late?

Early will have bugs but Bethesda are pretty good at sorting out gamebreaking bugs quickly.
Having a day 1 patch isn't a bad thing. Means they've continued bugtesting since it went gold. With early bug reports coming in they may have caught some since then.

Late will be somewhat cheaper and patched but you'll have missed out on playing for several months and may have seen/read spoilers that will give away things you would have rather discovered for yourself.
