I'm scared to buy the game...

Post » Mon May 07, 2012 2:38 pm

A friend of mine told me that Bethesda games are usually unfinished and full of bugs when they launch and that I should wait 3-6 months before buying it. Also, we saw almost no gameplay footage of the PS3 version (the version I want to buy) and the fact that the game will have a day one patch is a little bit scary... Also does the game still have that auto-leveling for enemies/dungeons that Oblivion had? I didn't like this since there was no way to farm outside a dungeon just to come back and wipe it easily.

These games do have bugs, but I for me Bethesda games have always been so great that I overlook the glitches and just have an amazing time with it. You'd be doing yourself a diservice not to get it.

I never buy games the day they come out...unless they are bethesda. (and one exception for bioshock 2, I was in between games)

I totally see as valid the idea to wait with a bethesda game when it might be cheaper and it will have patches. that is what I did with witcher 2.

that being said, there is no way I would wait a millisecond longer than needed to dive into the ooeey gooey delish that will be skyrim. why fear bugs? I play a moddable version. hint--not a console.

Nein! Creatures are leveled depending on their location! Closer to the spawn point, they are about your level. Farther away, much more dangerous.

I've played several Bethesda games, and you usually have to go out of your way to find the bugs. I've never had a problem.

there is going to be a patch on day one. and just because it's buggy doesn't mean that you shouldn't enjoy the world of Skyrim. Go get it.You will be glad you did.

the reason that some of the stuff bethesda makes is unfinished is because the game is so huge so even if you find something that is unfinished it is not like you dont have something else to do, also PS3 looks exactly like xbox

Why date someone when they have flaws?

or

Why play a game when something is bound to be bugged?

Skyrim is a tad different in terms of gameplay this time around, but it's up to you to decide if its good or not.

I would think that the PS3 version will be identical to the other versions so I don't see a problem with that. As far as bugs and patching, that's just the nature of the beast. I trust Bethesda will be on top of things.

I myself.. have a friend like this. He says he will wait a month before buying skyrim, mainly for patching an such. Honestly? My opinion? I had minimal issues with Oblivion (sans my rig could barely run it, at time), upgrade.. I can but I did not play it much. FO3.. I crashed maybe 4 times.. CTD though.. and mostly it was driver issues my side of things. Obsidians FO:NV only 1 CTD.. I just was not happy how it played.

I pre-order games I love/support. Bugs? Happen.

I've never encountered a game killing bug in a bethesda game. annoying bugs? yes, sure. something that corrupted my save file or made it so I couldn't finish and enjoy the game? nerrrrp

it's a huge game, there will be some bugs. a day one patch is intended to resolve several of the more prominent ones they've found since the game went gold. it's really not that big of a deal. if you feel like you need to wait, go for it. not many others share your extreme concern

and yes, the global leveling of enemies is dead. certain high level areas exist, but most areas lock to the level you are when you first find them. there are a few other quirks to the leveling system, but you will assuridly not encounter bandits in full glass armor.

1. Your friend doesn't know very much about Bethesda games. 2. That's because Bethesda made a licensing deal with Microsoft for pre-release footage to be made exclusively on the 360. Not only that, it's reportedly easier to screencap/make live demonstrations on etc. etc. But, if you really wanted to find footage there are plenty of less-than-legal screenshots and videos on the internet. 3. A lot of modern games have a day one patch. Skyrim will not be perfect on release but if you and your friend had done research, you would have read articles saying how solid the experience was even in beta. In one article they mentioned that it felt more finished in beta than most released games. 4. The monsters are like in morrowind, if I'm not mistaken. Certain areas have higher level monsters. However, with the dynamic quest system, it will create a conditional experience. So, if you're level 1, the quest you do will bring you to a level 1 dungeon that you have not yet explored.

Ugh. I hate it when people say things like that. Bethesda games are always finished, but they do tend to have bugs. If you're used to games that take 3 hours like COD it's easy to get all the bugs as there isn't too many things to do. This game has literally 100x more gameplay hours and so many more things to do.

Morrowind was fine, Oblivion had a terrible german translation at the release. F3 and NV were fine. So you good sir shouldnt be afraid too much about bugs.

They're obviously doing as much as they can to eliminate bugs earlier on: they already have a patch ready for day one. I wouldn't worry to much about it.

same here... PS3 games by Beth usually freeze every 15-20 minutes.

I got way too excited for this game way too soon and now i don't even care. I'm on the forum because it's just habit now.
