Wish it had been a proper cloth map. As good a quality as the paper is, I don't see it lasting all that long. I still have the cloth map I got with BG2, and it's still in good condition after 10 years.

I looked around and ironically had a frame just the right size for the map. :>

Yeah, picked mine up as soon as I saw word on the forums - just in time before the stores closed. Thanks guys ~

I'm very disappointed, not with Bethesda or EB, but with Steam. They could have at least allowed us to install the game, then wait for it to unlock at the predesignated time, just like with Battlefield 3. As it pans out, it would have been better if the street date had not been broken. This has just made the wait all the worse.

You can download the game off Steam since yesterday.

Question: Will Aussies have to wait for US timezones to enter 11/11 or is Steam going to unlock Skyrim for Australia before?

*sigh* :sadvaultboy:

I hate how we normally follow the rules in Canada.

Sweden and Canada are too 'safe' to do anything like that. I hate safe countries.

(Btw been to Canada, its beautiful, so dont get me wrong!)

There is a much more detailed map printed on ordinary glossy paper In the Official Game Guide which of course will cost us A$50 or A$30 if purchased with the game — at EB Games, anyway. I think the Guide is a MUST have.

We have to wait for America to reach 10/11 Midnight. About 4 and a half hours.

Oh yeah. Got the guide when I picked up my preorder. Haven't looked at the detailed map yet as I want to go in eyes closed. Unfortunately my EB didn't have any of the hardcover ones, just the paperback. :(

Hello Fame,

Yes, I know. But that, for me, kind of defeats the purpose of ordering the DVD version.

Don't make the mistake I did. When Steam says I can't install Skyrim until the release date of the game, there is an option to Pre-load the game. I didn't know what Pre-load was but I gave it a crack. Turns out it's a download of the game from Steam and like a lot in Australia I have just a small monthly d/l allowance and crap internet speed. I aborted at 50% and opted to wait to install from the DVD.

So I obviously won't be playing for at least 4 more hours, after midnight. I really don't understand Steam's logic here. Why was Skyrim being downloaded when it could of been installing off the DVD later in the night?

Me too. And Big W aren't being pricks, they've kept the embargo.

Bloody hell EB Games is awesome/makes me mad.
Fair enough. Thanks for the heads-up!

Ack. That svcks. However, if you still have data allowance left, you might as well continue since you're 50% through.

Plus the game isn't that large, really, I think it's about ~6GB.

No, no need to apologise, I was more than likely being unclear (I think it happens a lot with me, not too sure :D), your advice in any case is good for those who might want to possibly go down that route.

Fame: Too late now, I aborted. Steam warns that data obtained so far will be deleted.

There was a hard cover edition?

I thought I read somewhere on the forums that there was, but don't quote me on it. They had hardcover editions for MW3 and Uncharted, so why not Skyrim?

A hardcover edition would have been most appropriate for this game. Much like the WoW hardcover atlas that came out a few years ago. I'd be spitting chips if my EB had run out by the time I got there. Apparently my soft cover one was the second last they had!

Dude I love you so much. I originally wasn't able to get Skryim until tomorrow afternoon. But then I called up my EB games after reading this, found out they were selling it and got the game. Been playing it for about two hours and it is [censored] AMAZING!!

Waiting for Steam and midnight is such a PITA.

At 10:30pm Steam is still locking me out. So I guess they are serious about forcing us to wait until 12:01am 11:11:11.

Ack! I just thought: Steam does know we are on daylight saving, I hope. True time would add another hour to my wait?

So it's 80 minutes or 140 I still have to fill. Dontcha just hate DRM?

.... A few hands of Solitaire will have to do.
