Anyone keeping a Skyrim diary?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 7:10 pm

I really wish I had the time and energy for a project like this. Very cool and my hat is off to those who go for it.

Nope, I'll just play through Skyrim as a few different characters, have an incredible time, and then forget about 95% of the game, just like with Morrowind, Oblivion, F3, New Vegas ...

Thanks to this thread, I just went out and bought a nice leather journal, fair in price, along with a calligraphy pen and bottle of ink for added effect. At the end of the day, I think it's only gonna add to my immersion, which is worth it to me!

I'm thinking about trying to document everything I do in Skyrim. Sort of a journal documenting my adventures and what I do.

I'd read that!

Yuuup. :D I bought a black leather journal the other day and I will use it to make an alchemy list, compile ingredients for crafting, keep track of npc's if they have a quest I don't want to take right now, etc.

Awesome idea, I might just do this!

This sounds like a really fun idea. Both the bullet point list format and fleshing the data out into short stories at the end of the day might add a lot to the immersion and help establish stronger connections with your characters. It would be very time consuming though.

If only I was a student again ... <_<

Wow glad some people like my post/idea, it makes me feel warm and fuzzy on the inside! The barnes and noble leather bound journal idea is cool, but i'll probably just be using a spiral notebook. Getting the CE has me spending enough $ on this game as it is! I think my GF would dump me if she knew.

Likely not, I used to do AAR's for Mount and Blade. However after 4-6 days I would get bored trying to keep up with everything noteworthy and trying to make a story of it.
Then my writing turned to garbage and I lose interest. Its a shame, because I had a few that some people really liked, and they where going well.

Maybe something less like a AAR and more like a "today I did" records for my self.

I usually make a note of useful ingredients and recipes, and other notes that I tend to forget, but then I lose the paper (I'm absent-minded). Getting a notebook from somewhere might be a good idea for me!

But I'm not going to go as far as writing a proper diary for my character. If there was an in-game journal I might consider it, but otherwise it wouldn't gel right for me.

More a notebook than a diary in which I jot down things I wish to remember. Likely a mix of things that happened, the results of alchemical experiments, etc.

I did this in fallout so, I'll probably do it in skyrim every now and again...

@lady evenstar yeah I'll probably do that as well, probably some sketches too...

Will also write the entire backstory etc in the following pages. Then a huge open space for journal, and then another space for alchemy ingredients etc.

I have been using the notebook I got with the game as a journal for the game, basically recording what my character has got up to , noting interesting spots and working out puzzles.

We are sort of doing this on a community basis over at UES community in this thread (Community Blog - Life in Skyrim, Or "Tales of a Frostbitten Adventurer) if anyone wants to come over and sign up and join us

http://z6.invisionfree.com/UES_Community/index.php?showtopic=1399

I haven't posted in there yet (apart from starting the thread) because my copy only arrived today and I'm still at work. Hopefully I'll be able to post something tonight.
