Did you file a complaint at the Office of Imperial Commerce? Imperial City Market District.

I kind've expected being a mage to svck in Skyrim, given that Bethesda have basically repackaged magic in the form of Shouts. A lot of the best spells in the game are readily available to any class.

Great isn't it, powerful attacks you actually have to work for. Rather then just buy...

Wow a lot of post about Mage Rage on the forums at the moment.
I admit i briefly tried a new Mage character today but got bored pretty quick and went back to my Greatsword wielding beast of a Nord. The combat seems more exciting with melee and of course the cinematics of beheading/planting huge sword in your foe.. just never get tiresome for me :D

The feeling is mutual. :)

Honestly people need to stop complaining and just play the damn game. If you don't like your character make a new one...

Frankly, I do not understand what is the fun of shouting and causing some effect on the foe. Its not like I wanna play a banshee in sword / bow / staff... I mean, I dont think I will EVER use shouts, which dont go at all w/ my stealthy assassin...

They don't go well with my pure melee chatacter either, which is why I try and avoid using them as much as possible. I find myself having to use Dragonrend a lot though (the shout which forces dragons to land), because dragon fights are just too [censored] tedious without it.

I'm still dumbstruck that someone actually thought Shouts would be a good idea as a main feature of the game. "I know! Let's repackage magic and make everyone a battlemage whether they like it or not; and on top of that, let's repackage it in the form of a shout - even though one of the best features of the series is the fact that the player-character doesn't actually have a voice... leaving everything to the player's imagination."

im about the same level on a mage character and honestly i have no idea what people are talking about when they say mages are nerfed in skyrim. dual cast fireball with stagger with fire spells upped with regen robes and reduce cast robes, with this i can kill giants and dragons no problem, bandits are of no concern, not even the tougher varients, although i do have some trouble with bandit chiefs, but a little bit of kiting and a few extra potions take care of the problem easily.

There is nothing wrong with mages, sorry your not the op kill everything mage you thought you would be, have a nice day.

Don't seek council from the Forums, its just rife with people trying to skewer you for no good reason. to them you are the "vocal minority" to them " you are not a fan" to them you are just some noob out of nowhere just to troll, when all of them were also "noobs to the forums" and you commited an even worse travesty by saying you loath skyrim, now you wont get an inkling of help.

and no matter how many threads detail whats obviously not right about your problem, you will always been told "you're doing it wrong"
Well you see he's really doing it wrong, my first character on Skyrim was a Khajiit, i enjoyed it was fun and all that, my main quest bugged, so i said what the hell and started a Imperial mage, and they are far from bad, Oblivion is a game i played around 200+ hours, and the magic was just horrible on Oblivion. It was very very bad compared to this master piece called Skyrim, the magic in this game is just amazing, I'm level 4 at the moment with my new mage, and I'm enjoying it alot, alot more then the bad magic that Oblivion had. And Oblivion was a very good game.

OMG!!!

I'm sick and tired of threads like this. You're not a mage. YOU ARE NOT A MAGE!

You have created what we in the nerd world call a sorcerer. SORCERER. It has two set's of er see that? just wanted to make sure you could spell it right for later reference when you [censored] about sorcerer's not being strong enough.

Go find a roody poo staff and have fun. This way, you're saving mana cause you're using a staff but you're still fireballing everthing.

Or and tardy-caca, in case you havn't figured it out there are more spells to be had from the Jarl's wizards. You're probably [censored]ing cause firebolt is [censored]. Yes, it is [censored]. Keep working till you get Fireball. I bought it from the wizard in Whiterun.

Get out there and blow some [censored] up sorcerer.

Teddie they are NOT powerfulllll spellssss I want to set the world on fire or at least some of it. I wanna walk into a place and just OWN. That's what it should be like instead of having conjure crap
I don't think you should boot up a game just expecting to 'own' and get your hands on superspells that will set the world on fire. Magic isn't an instant-win tool, but it's very rewarding if you think about it and play strategically. You can't be a rambo-mage in this game, I admit, but really you shouldn't expect to be.

Magic isn't an instant-win tool,

But a sword is. Having played a warrior and a mage i have to say that mages require too much work compared to warriors. There is nothing wrong with requiring a different playstyle for mages, but there is no reason for making warriors so incredibly strong they can breeze through every dungeon while everything has to be a struggle needing a wide range of skills and spells just to do the same thing. Either warriors are too strong are mages are to weak, but probably its a bit of both.
Frankly i never became a really high level mage so i dont know if it gets better later on, but my warrior was *always* strong with a sword, no matter the level, while the descruction magic of my mage was always a bit too weak.
