why i LOATH skyrim

Post » Sun May 13, 2012 3:52 am

Teddie they are NOT powerfulllll spellssss I want to set the world on fire or at least some of it. I wanna walk into a place and just OWN. That's what it should be like instead of having conjure crap

You can. Just pick up a sword, strap on that Heavy Armor and chop the hordes into little bits. Also you can use a bow, light Armor and sneak kill nearly everything in sight.

Well thank you all I wasn't trying to start anything I was just wanting to express my frustration somewhere. And I know a lot of you see a brighter side than I do maybe if I play a Breton instead of dark elf I'll do better. It just really pissed me off because I was so excited for this game. /end of rant

You can still do what you want to do, you'll just have to think about it a bit more.

Honestly if you just want to face roll with just destruction spells, turn down the difficulty to novice. That's what it's there for!

If that's how you want to play, the option to play your character how you want is there! That's what makes these games great.

GOD, the average IQ on this forum must be below 90. Can you people try to understand what is written in the OP? And for God's sake, learn English.

Anyway. listen, this IS Bethesda's fault for making mage characters svck. All his points are valid. Just because he didn't go warrior doesn't mean he's a dumb fk who deserves what he got.

Conjuration summons things to tank for you. Illusion CC's for you. Alteration and restoration make you able to take shots. Don't dump everything into destruction and cry when you get owned. Be smarter. You can't build overpowered spells and lolz your way through the game like in Oblivion; being a mage is actually a moderate challenge this time around, but it's definitely powerful.

I am playing a Warrior in the late 30s right now. I have to spend perks in 4 relevant trees. My question is why shouldn't a Mage have to?

I currently have my perks tied up in Heavy Armor, One Handed, Blocking and Smithing.
If I was running around with Lockpicking, Speech, Pickpocket and One Handed I wouldn't be doing as well as I am.
I don't see why a Mage with Lockpicking, Speech, Pickpocket and Destruction would be doing any better.
A Mage with Alteration, Illusion, Conjuration and Destruction would be doing quite well on the other hand.

The big difference I see is my abilities are primarily passive and the Mage's abilities are not.
Warrior certainly takes less work than a Mage. But when has that been different in any RPG?

Dungeons and Dragons Warriors had armor and a sword. Mages had massive lists of spells, bags of potions, wands and staves.
Most Mages use snares to kite, use pets to distract or use roots and nukes. Ever play a Wizard in the original Everquest?
The Arcane Warrior in Dragon Age is the only time passive based Mage that comes to mind and they're pretty much Warriors...

Mages choose to play a very active class.
I am sorry but you're not going to just get to hold down flamethrower and do what I do when you decided on playing the class with the least passive perks in the game.
OMG LOGIC!!!

Don't seek council from the Forums, its just rife with people trying to skewer you for no good reason. to them you are the "vocal minority" to them " you are not a fan" to them you are just some noob out of nowhere just to troll, when all of them were also "noobs to the forums" and you commited an even worse travesty by saying you loath skyrim, now you wont get an inkling of help.

and no matter how many threads detail whats obviously not right about your problem, you will always been told "you're doing it wrong"
Especially if this "problem" is has highly controversial reports.

So magic svcks at the beginning or the end.

MAKE UP YOUR BLOODY MIND!

So if someone has a rant about something they've misunderstood, someone points out what they've misunderstood, they're immediately a Bethesda Zealot?

I think my mage is plenty powerful in this game, you have to buy the upper level spells, i hope ur not waiting to find them, the chain lightning is good, i think its an adept spell, there are still expert and master levels. but the real fun comes from fireball, its the adept lvl of fire, huge explosion aoe dmg and everyone goes flying. im playing on master and my pure mage has been successful, so its a clean class choice in my mind, just my opinion.

My God... You're doing it all wrong... A Mage isn't meant to be an Overgod. Oblivion's system was so broken that it made everything easier with spells. They had to nerf them down. Just get some Expert and Master level spells and you'll do a better job as a mage. Do you even bother looking at the level of your spells when you buy them? There's a level indicated on the tomes. Novice to Master. Get the Master level spells and stop using the weak ones. Just keep doing quests, you'll always find some interesting tomes along the way.

Since I do not have the game, can u / any1 pls tell me this: the game allows you to actually put everything you got in ONLY Destruction, so as if you were some sort of specialist of D? And if so, r u saying this path is NOT viable (or at least not till some higher level)?

I jsut wanted to understand this sort of skill/perk progression

If you're having problems you could always adjust the difficulty slider.

Pause Menu > Settings > Difficulty.

Play on Apprentice or Novice and all you gotta do is bump into someone and they get owned.

The reason i hate it is because i was soooo excited to be a mage, thats the only reason i got this game and all i did in oblivion. In syrim I dont feel like a bad ass because the mage simply svcks. Granted im ONLY at level 15 but from I have played and read here in the forums it only gets worse as far as not feeling powerful. On top of that the quests to become an arch mage were only like 8 which made it so unreal and i dont feel like I iearned it enough unlike oblivion and to top it off that arch mages robe is FUGLYYY...so disappointed I feel like bethesda pushed magic to the side this time. And what svcks even more I got it on consoles and not PC. I was soooo excited for this game.

I'm only level 24, and none stand in the path of my battle-mage. I can jog through any city and murder everyone with minimal effort.

Edit: you want fireball ;)
