the most dissapointing thing in skyrim

Im the only one really unhappy with the whole "point and shoot" archer system?

I loved the old system where you had to account for distance.

Now you just point your crossair and the silly autoaim dosnnt even hit spot on - its a little off depending on what distance you shoot from. Sometimes below, sometimes above, but never in the center

Totally ruined archery for me

I admit, I was rather skeptical of the game, and not too optimistic about many things, and in the end that was for the best. As usual, their lore and world building are great...but they aren't earning any points for that from me...as that is to be expected from them.

I am disappointed in the lack of dialogue options, quest/moral complexity, and lack of follower personalities. I suppose maybe I was spoiled....coming fresh from finishing Fallout: NV, but it really is glaringly sad to see how poorly the much touted radiant story quests compare, to hand crafted questlines, that had real substance and lasting consequences. I was also disappointed at there being a lack of even one single opportunity to actually engage the antagonist in dialogue of any kind.

The dragons, also quickly lost their greatness, when I realized they only ever came in two varieties with one type of repetitive AI behavior. There are 20 shouts in the game and they couldn't bother to spice things up by giving dragons more than 1 shout each? Really? The dragon priests are harder and more complex than the things they worship.

As is typical....it is also poorly balanced, and the claims of actual difficulty do not extend past the lower levels, which were likely tested more than the upper end...and the whole blacksmithing/alchemy/enchanting blunder...which is almost about on par with 100% chameleon from Oblivion in brokenness is more than a little disappointing.

And how could they possibly not account for mages becoming so weak at upper levels? Mages were overpowered in previous games, but the correct answer was not to gimp them, that is not balance either. I mean, how could testers not possibly catch some of these things?

Despite that though, I am enjoying the game, and think it is likely one of their best works by far, but I am still saddened at what could have been, if they had put more time and effort into the areas that would fall short. The game's compression is quite good, so why did they not feel the need to better polish, and add even more things to the already small disk size?

One ring slot. No spears or polearms. No hand to hand. No crossbows. No horsey combat. No magic spells getting stronger with me (or alternatively, no spellmaking, but one of these needs to be in game, especially in a game with level scaled content). No levitation, jump, slowfall, feather, mark, recall, or waterwalking spells. Boring guilds (Awesome quests though, just terrible pacing with no build up). Essential NPCs. Boring dragons. Random dragons. Level scaling. No underwater combat. No spears or polearms.

I can't choose.

At least the setting rocks (also modding tools)--else it'd be back to Morrowang for me. Again.

So, some things I am missing? I, as a casual player actually have a lot to complain about. I cared about the little things. I don't typically DO the quests. "How can you enjoy a game about quests without doing the quests?" Well, quite simply, I just really liked the environments in Oblivion, saw they were going to be even better in Skyrim, bought the game first day and even waited 6 hours in line. Yes, a casual player can be a mega fan too. 3erd in line. One of the few girls there.

First thing I noticed was the lack of customization compared to Oblivion for your character. I get it that they didn't want to make the non-human characters look human with a different skin, however, they did cut down considerably on the amount of customization you could do with a humanoid character. I liked being a pink-haired Nord. And even the colors they did provide for hair were unsatisfactory. I wanted PINK for a humanoid character, and I was not given my pink. I also liked having purple hair or some other unreasonable color. I also had a hard time making my Nord attractive. His skin looked so blotchy and I didn't know how to fix it. There was no way to make him look younger. Not that I play in third person or anything... well unless I want a laugh.

The next thing that makes me angry is that I can no longer leap tall buildings in a single bound or build my hand to hand combat to the point where I don't need weapons or build my character in such a way that I can be a packing mule for 1ton + weight. I know it is weird to want to be this super human, but, hey it was fun!

I recently found out from someone else that you are no longer able to ride horses in first person. This... makes me extra sad because I was looking forward to riding on my horse in the various pretty environments as advertised... and yes, I will miss doing this in my underwear.

I don't really like the new way of doing alchemy either. I can deal with that though. At least it isn't gone. Kinda wish the Alchemy kit would go with my everywhere.

You realize this is not Sims 4: Skyrim?! :P

City size. They're smaller or at best about the same size as OB cities, and there's fewer of them. What is so hard about adding some extra houses and people, even if they don't have quests revolving around them? That and the short faction questlines.

The game lags when playing too long.

The size of the map. They said it was comparable to Cyrodil, but I find this to be a gross over exageration. I believe it is more of the size of Shivering Isles, maybe a little bigger but not much.
